My little one is three months old and I'm contemplating the switch from a bassinet in our room to being in the nursery. When did you move your LO into their own room? Any tips for an easy transition?

5 weeks, when my mom came to visit. She helped me get him off my chest and out of my bed.
I should add that she advised swaddling and putting him to sleep on his side, with a rolled up blanket behind him. It's not what I would have recommended to do, but it worked and you've got to do what's in your comfort zone as a parent.

6 weeks. I was very worried about it, but she ended up sleeping so much better in there, and so did we. She and DH are both light sleepers so they would wake each other up when we were all in one room.

Final move to crib was 13 weeks, we moved her RnP to the living room at 7 weeks and we all slept way better. The hardest part for us was having her adjust to the openness of the crib vs the cacoon of the RnP, she struggled for a few days and then was fine!

This weekend at 4 months! The pediatrian told me it was time and it would help her sleep better (which is did). She was in the pack n play in our room so we moved the pack n play to her room and haven't transitioned her to the crib yet. We didn't want too many changes at once. She had no issues with it at all.

At 4 weeks! He didn't notice ! We use a swaddleme blanket and lay him on his side to sleep. He won't sleep flat on his back ! I roll an A&A blanket up and place behind him and he does fine! Oh! And white noise !

We did it at 3 months since I had to go back to work and was afraid she would roll over and smother herself in the bassinet. Ha.

4.5 months when I went back to work. It was definitely harder for me than on her!

We have been using the crib in her room since we brought her home. Tried out the RnP in our room one time, but DH and I slept horribly and LO didn't sleep any better than in the crib!

we are planning to wait six months since that was recommended during our hospital baby care courses. and it's also just easier having him in our room to feed him in the morning or when he needs us during the night. although sometimes i wonder if we would sleep better with him in the other room. we recently transitioned him from bassinet to pnp in our room. next step is to move the pnp to his room and then him to his crib.
@MamaMoose: how come your ped said she would sleep better in a different room?

9w.
We had been away for a week and decided when we got home to just do it as she probably wouldn't "remember" being in our room anyways! Was fairly easy on all of us, and worked out pretty well!
She was quickly getting too long for her bassinette, knowing we'd have to switch her into something else we just went right to crib to save a step in the middle.

We're doing it now at 5 months.... I would have gone longer but DH thought it was time - he's right. I think I'll probably start sleeping better, once i get used to him being in the other room.

A little after six months but that was due to having to clear out and renovate the room first! But that was the old house and we were dealing with DS. With DD, we're hoping she'll be in a room by herself by month three but that's due mainly because we just bought a house last month and we're still getting adjusted/needing to paint/etc.

Lo is 6 months and is still in our room! I keep meaning to move her but makes it easier to feed her when she's still in our room.

2 weeks old. He slept much better in his own crib vs. the bassinet in our room.

@PurpleUnicorn: mainly because we were likely making noises in our sleep that would wake her up. But also because if she woke up during the night she would be less likely to go back to sleep on her own if she could see/smell me right next to her. Plus... He told us to turn the monitor to a level where we could hear crying but not grunting and small fussing since that would stop us from waking up and tending to her if she didn't really need us and just needed to settle herself back down.

we're still not there yet at 8 months but i wouldn't have it any other way.

@MamaMoose: hmmm, this is an interesting theory and would be very happy if it works for us! more for my DH actually. he wakes up constantly at every peep L makes. i am a deep sleeper and pretty much only hear is he's been fussing for a while or starts to actually cry. i feel bad for DH and keep telling him to sleep one night in the other room, but he says he's fine! I never thought about all those reasons you said it could help the baby sleep better too....

the girls slept in rock n plays while in our room and at 7 weeks we moved them to their nursery. At 4 months we moved them from their Rock N Plays to their cribs. They still take their daytime naps [they have 3 naps / day] in the Rock N Plays.

6 weeks. LO was a grunty/noisy sleeper. It was easier for all of us to get rest that way.

@Beebug: i like that idea. we are going on vacation in 2 weeks for a week, so maybe i will try putting him in room when we get back! thanks he will be 5m and 1w then, so close enough to 6m like i planned.

Our room is upstairs and the nursery is downstairs so it'll probably be awhile!

@PurpleUnicorn: We all slept WAY better when we moved her into her room too! That theory gets another thumbs up from this family too.

@zippylef: good to know! i've been hesitant so far because i hate the idea of walking all the way to the other room in the middle of the night just to give him the paci (we do this now in our room i'd say about 0 - 4 times a night)....but if him sleeping in his room translates into a decreased need to give the paci so often, then that would be awesome!

Ugh, LO is 8 weeks and we are in the process of transitioning him to his crib. We've gotten as far as moving his rock n play to his room and putting him in his crib after night feedings. He has been struggling the past few nights with falling asleep in there for his first stretch of the night but he's drowsy enough after night feedings that he doesn't protest. All his naps are still in the rock n play.

@PurpleUnicorn: I had the same fear but do far since she wakes up less in her own room it's really not been an issue!

About 3 weeks bc she wouldn't sleep in her bassinet, only the Snugabunny swing! She was fine with it...We put her there for naps too...

5 weeks! He transitioned really easily. It didn't help his sleep but it didn't hurt either.

around 5 months. he didn't notice at all -- it helped though, because his crib had been in our room, and we just moved the whole thing to his own room :).
i felt a bit sad, but dh and i slept a LOT better after we moved him! he had been making lots of noises at that point -- thumping his legs in his sleep... so hilarious, but kept keeping us awake! it was also nice to not have to whisper and keep the lights low anymore
he had been sleeping about 12 hrs straight no wake ups since he was about 3 months. we live in a tiny apt, so that meant our bedroom was off limits for hanging out/lounging in the evenings.

At 10 weeks. The first night was rough but otherwise, it's been awesome and we're all sleeping better!
