When did you potty train? I feel like I see and hear a range of times. I know some people start before 2, and others waited until almost three. LO is starting to show some signs of being ready but I’m not totally convinced. She’ll be 27 months this week, and she’ll also be in a pre-school-esque program two mornings per week starting in September. I think we might shoot to have her trained by then, but I don’t want to rush her either. When did you start this process?

DS was 2 years 4 months! He'd been showing readiness signs for a few months prior!

Just over 2.5. He was going consistently in the potty while naked at home so we just took the leap.

3 years. We waited until after an international trip.

DCP does it at 2.5 so that's when we started

We tried before 2 and she was into it for like 2 weeks, and now (at 2 years, 2 months) wants NOTHING to do with it - 2 year old rebellion?

A little after two years old. We're working on night training at almost 3.

We started at 27 months. But she had been exposed to the potty for months and even going some.

@JoJoGirl: I wonder about that. My friend started with her LO before 2, and her LO seemed to have the same reaction. Apparently she won’t go near a potty now. I hope it gets better for you!

We are doing it now at 3. HB seems IMO to skew early for potty training; most people I know IRL waited until at least 3 (or very near to 3 to train, several waited until closer to 4) and our pediatrician said that's what he normally sees too.

she lead the way at 22 months, but we've been dealing with it for 7 months basically with going PT, moving, regressions, etc. BLAH!

We plan on trying in a month or so...she isn't ready now (2.5) so I am hoping by 3, 3.5...

2 years but she really wasn't interested until 2.5

Started around 33 months. She was super ready and it was relatively easy! We did try the 3-day method earlier (around 2 1/2) but it didn't work out. I LOVED the "Oh Crap, Potty Training" ebook.

DS1 is 33 months and has shows readiness signs for MONTHS, yet he refuses to sit on the potty. So at this point, I'm just waiting for him to hand me underwear and say no more diapers.

He just turned 2 and it's not even on our radar. I don't want to push it until he seems ready. He has a potty and likes to sit on it sometimes, but he doesn't actually pee in it. We read potty books and he knows all the terms but he's just not interested!

6 weeks after her second birthday. She was totally day and night trained by 26 months.

DCP plans to do it at 2 (sept) so that's our plan. We tried one weekend a few weeks ago and he didn't get it but now has control so I think sort will be perfect

@knittylady: from my understanding, it's understanding the potty process, and having the physical capacity to control your body. Also, things like showing an interest in the potty, going longer periods without wet diapers, and being aware/unhappy when they have a dirty diaper.

We are at 2.5 and she is just starting to show signs she is ready. I am hoping for it to be done by 3.

We started at 20 months but I didn't transition her to underwear until 28 months.

Shortly after two we had some good success and then all of a sudden she completely lost interest. The pedi told us the worst thing we could do was push it. So we just went along with it. She just turned two and a half and moved up to a new room at day care and the big kids are all potty trained so she is ON BOARD. We've gone accident free 5 of the last 6 days so I think we're almost there.

@knittylady: telling you when they are peeing or pooping in their diapers and being able to pull pants up and down mostly independently are also signs of readiness

We introduced early and do a combo of following their lead and encouraging. It can be slower and we def had some accidents.

Thanks, everyone! It seems like a a lot depends on signs. We'll keep watching LO, but I'm not in a rush at this point.
