So I'm just shy of 11 weeks pregnant and I know it's too early to register for stuff yet, but when did you register for baby stuff? How many places did you register at?

I registered at BRU and Amazon and I started when I was 4 and a half months pregnant.

Do you think that an Amazon.com universal wishlist would suffice?

@MaisyMay: I think some people prefer to shop in person(or the day of your shower) so a store like Target or BRU would be good!

I started a private registry on Amazon at 15 weeks because I wanted to keep track of things I read about that I wanted. I opened it up at 20 weeks. I also had a BRU registry, wish I had done Buy Buy Baby, only two people bought from that store. Everyone else bought online. Amazon is a lot cheaper than those box stores, I've found. Everyone who came to my shower bought their gifts at least a week ahead of time.

I have a secret private wish list on amazon to keep track of cool stuff & I'm not even pregnant yet! When the time comes we'll probably do BRU & target, maybe amazon, but we did amazon for our wedding & it got almost no love:( I think starting anytime after your first trimester would be fine, that way you have plenty of time to work on it & edit before anyone sees it.

Im just past 20 weeks and haven't registered yet - although I am planning on going in the 2 weeks or so.
I'm going to register at BuyBuyBaby and Target.

i started ours at around 14 or 15 weeks, i think. we just did buy buy baby because i absolutely loathed BRU when i had to go shop there for other people's baby registries. my experiences with BRU have been so overwhelming and disorganized, and for some reason BBB is just a calmer place to shop.

I have had a private Amazon registry since we started talking TTC. I like that I can organize all the random research I've been doing in advance of really having to register.

I did BBB @ about 20 weeks. That store is awesome! They have a better selection than BRU, but I knew more people would do BRU, so I cross-referenced my list and did my BRu online so I could pull up both at the same time. I also registered at PBK.

Totally had a private Amazon registry when we started TTC. Like others have said, it's a great place to remember things you've read about. And researching stuff for babies is waay too fun. I could sit and read stroller reviews for an hour.
I'm not sure what I'll actually do for "real" registries. I don't have a BBB, and the BRU only carries like, 2 things on my Amazon registry in the actual store, so I don't know if it's worth it to do a second one where people could shop in person.

I didn't register for things until I was about 25 weeks pregnant - my bff forced me to because she was planning my baby shower and insisted that I hop to it.

We aren't even TTC yet and I have a private list on Amazon. I have been given a lot of hand-me-downs though and wanted to keep track of what I have versus what we will still need. If I were you I would start a private list now to gather ideas and such and then later start one in person and switch the Amazon list to public.

I signed up for Target online around 14 weeks (I couldn't wait anymore, and you can make it unsearchable/private). Then I went into the store to get my "welcome kit" of coupons, samples, etc.
DH and I went into BRU to register around 16 weeks after we knew what we were having. I wanted him to help me pick out "the big things" but he had no interest really in registering, so I've done the rest on my own.
We didn't tell anyone about the registries until recently, when my Mom was making the shower invites.

I started my pbkids registry around 14 weeks. We'll probably do BRU around 20 weeks (sadly we don't have BBB here and I find BRU has more selection in store than Target) we won't tell anyone about the registries until we have a shower though.

@MaisyMay: I should clarify, I registered at BRU and Amazon!

I think we did it a little past the halfway point. We definitely already knew the gender, so it must have been 20-something weeks. I started researching stuff we wanted well before that though.

I am 18w5d and have not done it yet. We just went to take a quick look at some stores today (BRU and BBB) and got some preliminary ideas, but we will not register at least for a few weeks, until after my anatomy scan at the end of June.
