I'm the same way-- if I find a good deal, I'll get it myself and take it off the registry. The hubs thinks it's a waste of money, but hey, if someone was going to spend X on a gift, and I found that gift for 1/2X, then I'd rather them get me something else...

At 17 weeks, I've bought a Graco portable pack and play (on clearance at Target-- only $30!) and 3 cloth diapers.

I think it's never too early to get started... babies need a LOT of stuff!

This may seem crazy but with so many family and friends having babies right now. I have bought things for at our house so they dont have to drag everything over. Just a few toys, pack' play, bumbo, rock n' play sleeper, play matt, small high chair (Space saver) and then a umbrella stroller. Then other small stuff like blankets and what nots.
We are not even PG yet, but friends and family def have liked coming over and being able to not worry about bringing everything. I figure I am going to get my $ use out of it because I picked colors (gender nuetral) and what not I like and they are getting used now and then will more once we have more LO's.

We have bought a crib and dresser and some clothes (after we found out gender) and my husband got a child hiking pack carrier. But otherwise I'm not buying anything until after my shower @ 32 weeks (I'm now just about 23 wks). Not sure what people will do for our shower, but we'll complete our registry at some point between 32-36 weeks : )

We've bought stuff here and there as good deals have come up. I don't think I'm having a shower because we might be relocating to another city, and I don't have many close friends here in town anyway. We're expecting to receive lots of clothing gifts so I've been holding back on purchasing too much of that.

i am actually waiting to get my 10% completion discount - i think i can start purchasing a month before my due date. but i did buy some crib bedding set since it's on a huge sale and wasn't sure how long it would last.

I feel like I've already bought SO much stuff from our registry: tons of cloth diapers, crib mattress, car seat, breast pump, etc. But since my shower won't be until 36 weeks, there are some things that we just need to get. And, there is still plenty of stuff that we want that's on our registry

We bought a few things very early just out of excitement & I bought a pink outfit the day I found out DD was a DD. We didn't buy big items until after 20 weeks.
