I'm curious when other first time moms started spending a fair bit of time out of the house with their babies.

N is two weeks old yesterday, and it seems like this is when people start expecting us to be able to come over to their house for visits, meet up for lunches and park outings out across town... that kind of thing. Honestly the farthest we've been so far is the dr's office, and quick outings to the grocery store for essentials, and short walks around the block or to the park down the street.

Is this normal? I feel like I rarely saw newborns out on the town before she was born, but maybe I was just oblivious?

Example: My mom arrived in town last night and is staying with another relative about 30 minutes away. Her thoughts for the day are for us to come there and visit for a bit, then all go to the park 45 minutes in the opposite direction, and walk a 5k "hike", then pack her in the car again and drive an additional 30 minutes over to visit my grandma for a bit and then out for dinner.

I'm semi terrified... baby is somewhat unpredictable about when she's fussy and I feel like she might be overwhelmed by that much time out. Not to mention that I didn't sleep at all last night because she's just discovered that being held 24/7 is fantastic, and she refuses to nurse under a cover... and I haven't decided how I feel about fully exposing myself to NIP yet...

So... what do you say bees... is this a reasonable push to get back to "normalcy" and rejoin the world or do most people stick pretty close to home for a little longer?
