I have always planned that 3 is the first party I will invite her "friends" too...we generally have some family kids and children of our friends at her parties now tho.

I invited a couple of her daycare friends for ages 2 and 3, but we knew their moms outside of daycare. She just got a party invite for next weekend and I think the whole class was invited. I don't know what we'll do for her 4th in January.

We are having our first party this year, at age 5, so the class is invited. Had we done it before, I would have also invited the class.

@californiadreams: if your lo wants to invite the one classmate, why not give the teacher an invite to give to that child's parent? Write on it that your lo specifically requested this friend come and see if he can!

@californiadreams: we did! We had a good mix. 3 days may be short notice but you can just tell the teacher that - your son JUST asked for his friend to come.

DS just started preschool in september and turns 3 in two weeks. We were thinking about inviting kids from his class, but since our party will be at our house and we haven't even formally met any of the other parents, and barely know the kids by name, we decide to wait until next year. We will bring treats in for his bday next Friday!

@californiadreams: No I didn't feel the need to invite the whole class - 20 kids? yikes!

We might start next year when she turns 4. We only did a bg 1st birthday and had small family dinners for 2-3. Luckily, she is a summer baby, so we won't be obligated to invite her entire class and just the kids she's friends with.

We started at age 3. We invited 19 kids but less than 10 came and mixed fine with non daycare friends. We are doing the same thing this year. Our daycare typically expects you to invite the whole class if you are going to pass out invites at school. We just put them on the child's sign in/out page as that is where the school leaves messages for parents too.

@californiadreams: yup, they celebrate at daycare as long as the parents being in something. I bring in something every year. Starting at their first. Fingers crossed I'm still employed when she turns 4 and we will definitely have a friend party!

This is the year of the birthday party at LO's daycare, which is odd since it is in home 0-6 ages. We've been there 2 years and didn't get an invite until this year. Now we've gotten 5 or 6 in the last 3 months (ages 2, 3 & 4). So I guess this year we will be inviting daycare when LO turns 3.

I'm a little conflicted about it since all our friends have kids LO's age too. I've been inviting those 8 kids to our past parties. I think the party might get too big when combined.

I know at least one other family at daycare had a morning party with daycare kids and then an afternoon party with family & friends. It worked out for them since they had an all day bounce house rental but it sounds exhausting.
