I went into labor on a Sunday and had my husband call my boss on Monday when we were in the hospital to tell him I was on maternity leave!

I'm working until 36 weeks. My workplace closes for a week at Christmas and then its only two more weeks until my due date. I know I'm not going to want to go back to work at that stage. But I'm also in Canada, so I get 52 weeks off, plus a couple weeks of holiday time I'll be using.

I worked until 6 pm on Wednesday and went into labor that night at 10. It was 6 days past my due date. I wanted to save all my PTO for after LO was here!

Initially I was going to start it at 37 weeks during my school's Christmas break- but I was bored to death and my work really needed help, so I worked two extra weeks. On the Friday of 38 weeks I felt too crappy to keep driving so I told them I would not be in on Monday.
My water broke and my son was born the next day at 39 weeks, 1 day!

I started maternity leave the day I delivered. But, I was on bedrest from 30.5-37.5 weeks and worked from home during that time. I went back to the office at 37.5 weeks and delivered at 38.5 weeks. During that week, I worked mostly half days. I was having contractions throughout and it was a little distracting to say the least...and I was physically very taxed from having been on bedrest so long. I was very fortunate to have a flexible work situation.
