I've noticed a ton of families at my church come back when baby is only a couple of weeks old - they don't go to the nursery, but they just baby-wear during the service.
I really have no idea what I'll feel comfortable with! DH is on staff at church so I'd like to be back sooner rather than later, but who knows? My peds office says 8-12 weeks. When did you start going back?

We waited till about 6-7 weeks because of flu season and some feeding issues. Sundays are hard schedule wise, but we make an effort to be there!

@grizz: I waited til LO was 3.5 months. We go to a large church and it was so hot last summer and everyone would want to hold her.. I wanted her to get her Dtap (whooping cough) shots first

2 weeks. I kept her in the sling or I was in the nursing moms mostly. She went to the nursery for the first time at 10 weeks.

2 weeks, we just brought the car seat in with us. But it was close to Easter so that made a difference. Didn't put her in the nursery until after her 2 month shots.

DD went for the first time at 2 weeks old.
I forget how old DS was.. he was born in the winter so we didn't take him til a bit later

P was 2 weeks old when we returned & then it was very hit & miss until she was around 6-7 months. P didnt go to the nursery until after her first birthday. I refuse to let our next keep us from church like adjusting to P did.

One month but I'm a staff worker so I had no choice. She just stayed with my mom in the back or in my office downstairs. She didnt start going to nursery until she was 3 months tho bc it was winter and I was afraid of the cold going around.

Immediately. I think DD was less than a week, and DS was just over 1 week. We've never gone to a church with a nursery, though, so the kids just hang out with us in the family room.

Five days. I wore her in the kangaroo position in a K'Tan for the first two months or so, which kept everyone at a healthy distance. We don't have a nursery, so DH and I just take turns holding her now (6 months Saturday).
ETA: It was so much easier when she was in the sleepy newborn stage!

8 weeks, and we keep her with us during service, i'm not comforable even at 8 months of her being in the nursery with strangers. If she's fussy I take her out and watch rest of sermon on the TVs in the lobby.
