My mom is visiting, and im not going to lie, Im dying to go baby shopping. I want to buy the britax b agile.
While researching I found lots of articles saying forward facing strollers cause stress to the baby and hinder development. Is there any truth to this?

Mrs Jacks wrote a post about overstimulation in forward facing carriers and I assume the same things would apply in a stroller so check that out.
M is still in her infant car seat so she faces us. Soon she'll be big enough for the stroller but we bought the Vista and the seat can be positioned either direction. I plan to keep her facing us as long as she can stand the boredom of mama's face : )

I quit the bassinet (H hated it!) right before she hit 3 mos and have been using the forward facing seat on our UBV. She loooooves it! It totally changed how much we both love the stroller! She likes being able to see everything!

Also wanted to add that H is extremely curious and seeing what is happening calms her down instead of overstimulating her. She'll be super quiet in it, just taking everything in and then she'll fall asleep, haha. She is just nosy:)

I started using a forward facing stroller at 7 months when we transitioned out of the infant seat and stroller frame.

same as @autumnlove - a couple weeks ago we transitioned O into the convertible carseat, so we had to use the stroller because we weren't using the infant seat anymore. O LOVES it! loves, loves, loves it. but we have the city mini...so it has a deep recline and a huge canopy, so she's pretty 'sheltered' in there if I feel she needs to be.
eta - she loves to tip her head up to grin at me through the windows in the canopy!

My friend has the B-Agile and until her son outgrew his infant car seat, she had him in that facing her (bonus - the canopies overlap for those extra sunny or windy days!). This could help with the possible overstimulation until your LO is older.
I have the B-Ready and after DD outgrew the infant car seat, I kept her toddler seat facing me until around 6-7 months then had her facing out. We also started using our UB G-Luxe around 8 months more regularly (more for my mom who cares for DD during the day, it's lighter) and she loves facing out.

LO is 6 months and we just started using the forward facing part of our BOB rather than the infant seat adapter. I'm going to say that he loves it! He's so excited to see different things and be able to look at something other than me :o)

They outgrew the double snapngo around 6 months, and we started using an outward facing combi for our shopping trips. They like being able to look around but can see and touch one another, and I give them lots of face time when i stop and pull something off the shelf, etc. Our bob faces out and I've used that for walks starting around 4-5 months, or if dh is home we use the ergos facing in still at 8 months.

I have a B-Ready. LO just hit 7 months, and I just transitioned her from her infant seat (which snapped into the frame), to the stroller seat, although I still have the seat facing me (it can be positioned in either direction). IMO, however, LO much prefers to be carried! (I have a Beco Gemini and she has only ever faced in . . . she really seems to love it!)

We started putting LO in the forward facing stroller & not in his carseat at 5 months -- he loves it! He likes to see what is going on - and he still gets tired from the motion and falls asleep if we're out for a long walk.

We started her outward facing on walks at 6 months, but when shopping or any time she would be in her carseat we use inward facing. She enjoys both ways, the movement puts her in a relaxated state.

wow, i didn't know that! we've been forward facing in our BOB since about 3 months or so. M is also VERY curious and LOVES looking around and seeing everything, and seems very content/relaxed in it! she HATED the car seat attachment thing for the stroller. she just didnt like feeling constricted and not being able to see anything.

Same as @autumnlove:. He usually zones out or falls right asleep when he's in it, so I'm not particularly worried about him being over-stimulated.

We switched E around 4 months. I would recline the seat a bit so he wasn't forced to sit up straight. He LOVED it. He would fall asleep most of the time, I don't think overstimulation was a problem.

Thanks for all the quick responses. It seems like the average age so far is around 6-7 months (a few months older than B), but so far no-one has indicated any stress.

We faced our LO forward in the stroller around the 6 month mark...I don't think it was overstimulating at all and my LO loved it, but everyone is different!

We first tried forward facing in the stroller when DS was about 6 months old. We didn't FF exclusively until closer to 8 months. He's always loved the stroller. He would happily face either way.

We just started at 6 months old! (And we still use the carseat adapter too.) But maybe if a blanket was used as a cover we could have started earlier.

We went forward facing at around the three month mark (A outgrew the bassinet) but it was Summer down here so we usually had the sun shade on which kept the pram nice and cosy.

My dude outgrew his little bassinet thing at 3 months, so we forward faced him from then. He loves it, so much more than he liked being in the bassinet.

Our only stroller is forward facing! We go on a ton of walks, and he generally sleeps the entire time. (Our stroller reclines and has a big canopy, so he can't see much of the world.)

@PrincessBaby: haha! yeah mine too. he would always get super antsy while he was in the bassinet. it was like a miracle when i decided to give up and put him front facing. he was so happy!

Ours faces both ways, but I plan to keep him facing me as long as he'll stand it! I like being able to see his face and talk to him.

I have had her rear-facing since she grew out of the bassinet at eight weeks. She can still see just as much behind me, but has the ability to read my face for my reactions to things.

I have a City Mini, but no car seat adapter. I've taken LO out for the first and second time this week, obviously facing away from me. I never even thought of overstimulation! I usually just use the Ergo on walks, but decided to try the stroller out since it was so hot here. Maybe I should stick with the Ergo for another couple of months? He seemed fine...

Update: I went to buy buy baby and tried out the stroller. While I loved the strollers itself, he was too small and floppy in there. I think I will wait another month.

We're visiting my folks out of state and used a borrowed stroller. LO had to face our because we didn't have an adaptor, and like you, I found her to be too small still. Oh well - soon enough!
