Kids these days develop so fast! I didn't start wearing one until junior high, but I think Olive will have to wear one younger than that... not necessarily a bra but something like a training bra?
When did you start wearing one?

I was 11. I remember how awkward that age was- some of my friends were wearing them, and some weren't!
I've noticed a lot of little girls 7-10 wear camisoles or white undershirts as an extra modesty layer before they actually start wearing bras.

I remember this so clearly. I was 10 years old and had actually started to need one - but I didn't want one. I think I was embarrassed. My mum insisted that we go to a shop - Marks & Spencer - to get me measured. Well, I was almost in tears it was so embarrassing. Anyway, I got my first bra - it was white with little pink flowers on it and it was a 32A. We went back a few weeks later to get me a couple more and I was in a B cup by then!! I was a chubby kid, though!

I was 10, going on 11. My mom made me, I remember being really embarrassed.

I wore a training bra around 5th grade/11 years old bc that's when I started AF.

Probably 5th grade. I was a full B by 7th grade and a C in high school.

@Cherrybee: aww!! That's so sad!
I have a friend who fought her mom about wearing a bra I til she was 14-15. And she obviously needed it

6th grade for me, I think? And in between 6th and 7th grade they exploded into full C cups. Sigh.

I think I was 11 or so. And probably worse a AA or something... so flat.

I know I had a training bra in 6th grade and probably a real one by maybe 7th.

5th grade for bra and AF...so 11 years old I think. I was in a 5th/6th grade split class when I was in 5th grade so there were several girls wearing bras

Hmmm...like 5th or 6th grade? I don't remember exactly. I do remember hitting the stupid dinner table at just the right height and how extremely painful that was!

I don't remember. Maybe 6th or 7th grade. It wasn't because I needed one though. I didn't grow boobs until I was 14.

I don't remember a date where I really needed to wear it... I could probably still get away with not wearing one! I think I started wearing one in middle school and 9th grade I discovered the magic that is the padded bra!

6th grade, though I probably needed one sooner. I started wearing one after one of the mean girls in my class "tripped" and ran her hand down my back to see if I was wearing one, then reporting back to the other mean girls who sniggered at me

I fought it, hard. I would wear an undershirt but I refused to wear a bra until I was like 15. And by then I was a B cup and totally needed it.

5th grade...it was a Jockey training bra (basically a bra-length undershirt with a band) and I resented it. It definitely felt uncomfortable.

I was in 6th grade I think. It was a training bra though! I think I was 13 before I got a bra with cups.

I think it was 5th grade, and it was mainly a training bra...although I did have something to go in it (I wasn't totally flat anyway).
But my mom LOVES to tell everyone (still, to this day) about how when I first starting wearing bras, she would find them in the weirdest places in the house--like on top of the piano, down in the couch cushions, etc.
And I'm like...there was a perfectly good reason for that--bras are uncomfortable at first, and after school I had to practice piano, so sometimes I'd just take it off under my shirt. But I wasn't allowed to leave the piano until I'd practiced 30 minutes, so I'd just put it on top and forget. Or I'd watch TV after school and take the bra off (under my shirt) and it would fall under the cushions.
Makes sense to me! But she tells that story so often you'd think it was doing something perverted.

I was a 5th grader, as well. I "blossomed" by the 6th grade and I've actually been a full B cup ever since! I wasn't too thick but I was teased (or, let's call it what is really is-- harrassed!) a lot in middle school. I like the size now but being 12 with a full chest isn't fun!!
