We plan on doing CD and I had a few questions. Did you register for them & when did you start your stash?

I didn't register for CDs, most of our stash was used. I started scouring craigslist and local moms boards around month 6. I started with a huge stash from a mom of triplets for $60! I then bought a few covers, and then I was pretty much set.

I rented newborn cloth diapers and when they got small, I went out and bought the bigger ones. When she was six weeks old I think?

I registered for them, and got none. Boo!
I started building my stash when I was about 5 months pregnant. Black friday sales - I was all over that lol
We didn't CD when he was a newborn, but we started when he was about a month old.

I slowly started building up as soon as I convinced my DH to at least give cloth a try. After that I waited for sakes to come up and started collecting. I have tried a few different brands along the way and have now figured what I like and don't. Feel free to msg me with any questions! I asked a bazillion to the ladies on here when I was just getting started.

I registered for them, but started buying them myself as well when I was around 20-ish weeks. And we rented our newborn stash!

@Sugar.Biscuit: Seriously, hold out for black friday. The deals were RIDICULOUS, as well as, most of the diaper sites send out goody bags with black friday purchases. I ended up getting 2 free wet bags, free cloth wipes, and FOUR free diapers, as well as coupons. Totally worth the wait.

We didn't register for them. We started our stash shortly after deciding we were going to CD so a month or so before we knew what we were having. We got a lot of our stash during the buy 5 get 1 free promo from Bum Genius and purchased our others over Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. Some of the other brands run the buy X get 1 free deals and alot of CD stores give a free diaper with purchase (Kelly's Closet is big on this) so we got a lot from these deals too. Check out diaperpin.com for promo codes and sales!

I did register for them but no one purchased them from our registry. I ended up buying them about a month before LO was born.

@Sugar.Biscuit: I didn't register for them because we didn't have a baby shower, but I had some BumGenius ones on my amazon wish list (I have a list going there just to remind me of things I want to buy), and I had some friends tell my Hubs that they wanted to get the baby a gift and asked what to get, so he forwarded my amazon wish list (with my breast pads, pumping bra, post partum bottom spray and all! embarassing!), and they chose to get me 9 BG diapers, which was awesome, because they are so expensive!!
So I got those for free, and then bought 7 of my own with 20% and $5 off coupons from BuyBuyBaby. So I have 16 total and am probably going to stop there until LO arrives, I've tried BG and decide I like them. I'm 32 weeks now, just for reference.

I registered for them and received a few, but we have bought most of them ourselves with gift cards we received or money from returned gifts. Now I am constantly looking for deals to finish off our stash before baby gets here.
@ValentineMommy: Good to know on the Black Friday deals!

I started 6 weeks before I was due and because I wanted to have everything washed and ready. For the bigger sizes I would keep my eyes out for sales, used on eBay, and the local parents list serve.
