Day 1? haha. I never asked people to wash their hands or use sanitizer before touching Xander.

That being said, if someone was sick, I didn't let them hold him until I felt confident they were no longer contagious. My poor mom had to wait a week after he was born before she could hold him!

We still generally ask people to wash their hands before holding LO, or at least use purell, and he's almost 8 months...but most people here take public transportation to get to us, which is pretty grimy.

Probably a month. I would say too that is when people would stop asking where the hand sanitizer was or say let me wash my hands first.

I broke that bubble yesterday for the first time. When she was in NICU for minor issues for a week, we had to scrub to the elbows and hand sanitizer. SO when people visited her at home that next week, I had them use hand sanitizer also. Yesterday I took her to meet some of her family on the farm though, and did not make them do it. Even her grandpa and uncle who came in out of the field. (They weren't DIRTY though, and anyway, field dirt, not animal dirt.) I didn't realize till later that like 8 people touched her without washing but, I think she'll live. I did ask people that they not be around her while sick. As a result my best friend hasn't met her yet as she and her daughter had a cold, but I appreciate them being respectful for that!! Oh and she's 2 weeks old.

@blackbird: Is it possible that she JUST found out about the tonsillitis the next day? It's definitely sketchy if she felt sick and didn't say anything AND didn't want to wash her hands! I'd maybe never let her touch your LO again in that case!!!

Maybe after his first set of shots? So two months. But I was really only concerned for the first month or so.
