I'm really curious to hear what others say! My twins were on meds originally from 3 weeks to 7 months. We put them back on the meds around 9 months and didn't seen an improvement. We saw the pediatric GI and he put them on a new medicine around 10.5 months. They continued on that medicine until 15 months when we tried without it. They went about 6 weeks without when we put them back on the meds. They are still on the meds at 21 months. We've gone back and forth on trying them off the meds again. Their primary symptoms as older babies and toddlers has been terrible sleep, writhing and screaming all night long. Part of us wonders if some of that is just bad sleeping and not totally related to reflux. I night weaned them at 19 months and I also think they'd have an easier time with night reflux symptoms now that they aren't nursing all night long.

He'll be 6 months tomorrow and he definitely doesn't need it as much as he did from months 1-5 (if we skip a dose or two, it doesn't seem to bother him).

@twodoghouse: That's sort of the boat I'm in at 7 months. We have tried to stop a couple of times and he CLEARLY still needed it. But now I'm not sure if when we cut back and he's miserable and sleeping poorly that it's reflux or teething or wonder week or whatever.

Mine was on it for a long time, I think about 18 months. He had severe reflux and was in Prevacid.

I was wondering same thing tonight as I watch LO2 writhe around in the rock and play and continuously swallow/ gag. I'm calling her ped in the am to see if we can adjust her meds.... She is 15 weeks/9 adjusted.

We finally stopped omeprezole at around a year. Anytime we tried before lead to crappy sleep.

It was a while...I'd say we didn't wean him off it completely until around 8 months. He was still doing a lot of spitting up so we kept it going for a while. No fun, but I do think it helped him so I don't regret giving him the meds.
