We were using the stroller yesterday and just popped the infant seat right in like usual, and DH looked at me and said, "When can we just put him in the stroller?" I gave him a blank look. I really don't know when is appropriate or safe or okay. T is almost 5 months old.

We did around 5 months (late March/early April in RI) when we switched her to the convertible car seat. But had it been different weather, I would've used our city mini much earlier with her!

About 5 months, but really not until it got warm enough. She was so cozy in her infant seat.

When they can hold their necks up pretty well, and be close to sitting up, so around 5-6 months. I have to admit, at 13 months, we still pop him in his carseat into the stroller, for example in the airport or when he's asleep! I'm going to miss that convenience!

It depends on your stroller. Some lie flat and are ok from birth, some are 3months+, or 6months+. We switched out of the infant seat early at 4 months because he hated it. Our stroller is technically 6 months and up, but I felt like his head control was really good and I didn't worry too much about it.

5-6 months? She hated the bucket seat, so this kept her happy in the stroller.

We never used the infant seat in the stroller with either one of our DDs. All of the strollers we've used have been lay flat and we just put one of those infant inserts in for extra padding and head support and went with that. Never had a problem...

We used he bassinet attachment until 3 months. Now we just tilt the seat back. He's got good head control though!

He's three months and we just did it today because it's stinkin hot and he's a sweaty little human! But the stroller was reclined quite a bit or else he'd slump over.

6 months! that's when I read that he could... not sure where I read that! I think as long as they can kinda sit up on their own and support their head it would be okay!

Around then, I think. We have an UBV and she could face is. I hated the car seat in the stroller. It made it very heavy on that end, especially with my diaper bag, so it felt like it could topple over.

Ours lays flat so we used the seat for walks right Away. Plus in the heat it was cooler than the infant seat.

Around 6 months when we switched to a convertible seat, he was not a fan of the infant seat anyhow.

I don't have an infant carseat, so we have a stroller that lies flat, and he's been riding in it since birth. I started reclining it a bit after 2 months and now, at 3.5 months, I sit him up a lot, unless he's sleeping.

I used it until he outgrew it at 15 months i think, i can't remember, maybe it was a bit sooner. Then I upgraded to a better stroller. Although we went on vacation at 5 months to an all-inclusive and just used the stroller then, with no infant seat for a week.

Around 5.5 months. And then I understood why people get the strollers that have seats/handlebars you can reverse...now that I can't see her when we're out walking, I miss her!

@Ree723: same here! We have never used our carseat with the stroller. Our stroller doesn't even go completely flat, though, just most of the way. I also never had an infant head support specifically; we just used blankets.
We took her for her first walk about 15 minutes after we got home from the hospital and have never had an issue. She hates being in the seat when the cat isn't moving anyways, so I suspect it wouldn't be pleasant for anyone to keep her in it. Aside from the occasional inconvenience running errands, I'm glad for it. I don't like her to be in the seat longer than she has to be.

Wow... we just recently started using the stroller without the car seat when we were on vacation around 9 months, and only consistently now that we stopped using the bucket seat in the car at 11 months. I'd done it a couple times before, but I liked being able to see her, and she LOOOOOOOVED the bucket seat, so I just kept going with it.

I think 6 months we started using the stroller for every day---but still even now at 1 year, we occasionally use the carseat if we are out and about because we have a B ready, and the infant seat clicks into the frame (no stroller seat required).

We stopped at 6 months when we switched her to a convertible car seat. I cannot imagine trying to squeeze R into an infant car seat now at 12.5 months old. She much prefers sitting in the stroller and looking around anyway.

We stopped around 7 months or so- could have done it sooner but it was convenient to be able to carry her up and down the stairs to our condo in the seat, especially if she fell asleep. We still have her facing me in the stroller seat at almost a year- I love looking at her!
I never planned to have her in the car seat in the stroller- we got an ubv and I swore she would use the bassinet. After several months of her just screaming everytime I tried using it and ending up with her in the moby and me pushing a diaper bag in a giant stroller, I gave in and used the car seat attachment.

So we had a Chicco Keyfit Caddy for the car seat, and a City Mini that we never put the adapter on. There was a period of time when she was not happy in the infant seat if she was awake so we stopped using the Caddy, but we weren't really using the stroller either. We used the Ergo more then or just carried her. She was about 6 months when we really started using the stroller - she was sitting up well enough that she didn't bob around in it.

We didn't use our bucket seat with the stroller because we had the bassinet attachment. We used that til she was 15 lbs so around 6 months. Then made the switch to the regular stroller seat.

@spaniellove: try it! I swear, I hate lugging that stupid seat around. Next time, I probably will get the attachment for the very few times that I would have liked to be able to keep her in the seat. Honestly, though, I can count on 2 fingers when those were. Just recline the Cruz, put a bunch of blankets in, strap him in, and see what you think!
Eta: UB does make an infant snug seat for thr Cruz. If we had gone with that stroller, we would have purchased the snug seat also. You could try that! It would make J more secure.
