I know you aren't supposed o have one but we do. Our friends never took theirs off and their ds is 14 months.

I still have a breathable bumper up and LO is almost 13 months.

We didn't buy a crib set, just a had a crib skirt and sheets made so we never bothered with bumpers. I think I would have taken them down when she started moving, and then if necessary put them up if she was getting limbs through the bars.

We never bought a bumper...just crib sheets so we didn't need to worry about it.
