Olive is almost 4 weeks old, and we haven't taken her out of the house except for two doctor's appointments. Part of it has to do with it being winter here, and she hates the cold. Charlie was also born in winter (dec 5th), so I think he was well over a month old before I took him out for the first time to meet with my mom group.
When did you take your LO out for the first time?

We took out LO out to church for the first time when she was 2 weeks old. Going out with a newborn is a serious pain in the butt though.

My LO was born in early Dec also and aside from Dr's visits, I think the first time we took her out was for Christmas with family out of town. It was, however, a couple more weeks before I took her out by myself (without hubby).

Baby #1 was a winter baby (Feb), but we still took her out pretty early. she went sight-seeing at Top of the Rock at 12 days old with our relatives who were visiting her. She was bundled up nicely and slept most of the time.
Baby #2 also was out very soon too, but she was a July baby so it was much less worrisome. At 1.5 weeks she went MOH dress shopping with me. At 4-6 weeks we were on vacay for my sister's wedding in Maui! looking back, cant believe she did so well on that trip so young.

We had a pretty mild winter, we took DS (born in mid December) out when he was about 10 days old. We just plopped him in his stroller and off we went for about 15 minutes!
I started going out alone with him around 4 weeks old.

LO was born in August and I stayed in the house (other than dr's appts) for 2 weeks and 3 days. At 2w4d, I felt brave and went to a mall for one hour. It was so hard because I was still in so much pain but I had to get out of the house.

I took her out for walks after a few days. She was born at the end of April so it was warm enough. My pediatrician said not to expose her to any germs before her shots at 2 months so I didn't take her anywhere else before 2 months and then our first trip was to the mall. I still remember what a big deal a mall trip seemed to be!

We had to get my hub's school books, so we were out within a week. She was wrapped in the Moby cradle hold, so she couldn't be touched or get close to anyone. Plus, it was just a few minutes and the book store was empty.

aside from the regular pedi appointments, we waited until she was 6 weeks old. my niece had a scary incident when she was very very young and we wanted to protect em as much as possible since she was born early.

I've been wondering about this a lot lately.
I'm due in April (in Central California, so it should be warm) and bring my two dogs on two walks every day. I honestly can't wait to do it with a stroller, haha!

He was 9 days old even though I didn't want to, it was really important to my husband that we attend a particular family event. I was pretty annoyed about it because I was still in a lot of pain from my c-section and I had only been home for 4 days at that point. Looking bad I should have just put my foot down because it was pretty hard and exhausting.

I don't have one yet, but my best friend took her newborn out after 3 days! She was literally just released from the hospital and then came over to my house with her baby for my Bridal Shower!!! It was summer, so I'm not sure she would've done that in the winter, but I was still really impressed!

G was born in July and if recall correctly, we went out for a walk pretty soon after he was born. On week 2, we headed to a mommy group but it had been cancelled and I didn't know it. The next day I went to a breast feeding support group at the same place...about 1/2 hour from my house.
With C, I just made the daycare run for G for the first time. She's 6 days old. Tomorrow we plan to hit the mommy group at my church.

We only took E out for doctor's appointments and didn't really take her out until she was about 2 months. She was born in February so it was still pretty cold out and like Olive, E is super sensitive to temperature. She still has clammy hands and feet if it's a little cold!

I was wondering about this too - I'm a very social person and I'll go completely stark crazy if I have to stay home all the time for weeks or months. On the other hand I don't want to expose my baby to anything- would keeping the baby in a moby wrap, close to my body and away from people- make it ok to go out earlier?

We began taking my son out at 6 days old when I went to buy nursing bras and a ring sling and then we went to lunch. He was born in mid-February in Texas so it was relatively decent weather.

We would go out on little trips to run errands with him, except he remained in the car while one of us went inside the store. After 2.5 weeks or so I went inside Costco with him in the Ergo. We felt it was safest to listen to our pediatrician and wait a full month for real trips to the store with our LO.

We went out to the Christmas open house party at the midwifery about 8 days after she was born. She slep the whole time even though all of the staff were passing her around lol.

Baby B was born at the beginning of September and due to my c-section I was told to walk. His first outing was at 8 days to Starbucks and we got to sit outside. It felt great to get out of the house!

Aside from her doctors appointment when she was 4 days old, we took our daughter out when she was a week old. This wasn't exactly by choice however. We had lost power due to a hurricane and it was a muggy August week. We took her to my in-laws for a couple of hours, until the sun set. I was a nervous wreck but it beat the alternative. Shortly after, maybe a week later, I got more comfortable and we took her on walks often, as suggested by her pediatrician.

Besides doctors appt we generally stayed in the house for the first 3 weeks, but I got cabin fever and had to get out. We went to Kohl's for a little bit. After 4 weeks we pretty much take a trip somewhere everyday.

Wow, I didn't realize I was being adventurous by going out when he was so young -- We had weight checks every other day for the first 2.5 weeks, we also went to a BF class one his 1 week birthday (and every week after that, it was a good way to get out) ... we also walked almost daily after I felt okay (csection) after about 3 weeks ... I feel like in his first 12 weeks he has been moving and shaking since very early!

Both my mother and MIL are sticklers about not taking newborns outdoors for at least a month, ESPECIALLY in the cold. They couldn't even understand why the pediatrician would want to see the baby a week after birth!
Since Claire was born late Sept and Aerin in early Nov, we'll prob keep them indoors as much as possible!

It was at 2 months. other than that, after I recovered from my C-section, I'd go to the grocery store to get out, or something, but her-no. I didn't want germs near her that early.

Our first trip out of the house with DD was when she was 6 days old. We went to see a lactation consultant, and obviously had to bring her with us 
We also took her to have her newborn photos done at 10 days old.
We've had a very mild fall here, so we've ventured out to visit our parents a few times, too.
