How old was your LO when you and your SO went away for the first time after his/her birth? How far away did you go?
Planning to take a trip a few months after our LO's first birthday, but can't decide if we should stay close to home (a few hours away), or go somewhere tropical.

LO was 20 months - just last month. I feel like she's too young to leave with friends (they'd be willing, but they have their own kids to care for), and we don't live near family. We went across the country.

LO was 2.5 months. We left her with my parents for 3.5 days and we went snowboarding and attended a wedding.

20 months - we left her for 3 days and were about 3 hours away. My friend left her 20 month old for 9 days to go to Hawaii and said her LO did great. It's mentally tough on the parents bc you worry you can't get back if something happens. It was easy for me bc we were just a drive away and my mom stayed with LO at our house. We left for 5 days across the country when she was 26 months and it was so easy bc we had left her before and knew she would do great

Right after her 1st birthday, we went 10 hours away for 3 days to a college football game. We had done a couple overnighters but never more than 24 hours.

We are leaving DS this weekend for the first time. We'll be gone 4 nights/5 days and will be leaving the country. He's 8 months old. I am sooo nervous but know he will be in good hands with my parents.

Right before her first birthday we went away for 2 nights (only an hour away) while my parents watched her.

Ill be going on a momcation in may! Ds will be 17 mths! Dh and I've done overnts away as early as when ds was three mths!

Left DD when she was 20 months old to give birth to DS.
Haven't left them since he was born almost 14 months ago!

16.5 months and we left him over night with our nanny. We just went 5 hours away to NYC. It was nice but I would've liked to have stayed another night.

Haven't left her yet and she's almost 2yo. No plans to leave her- if we take trips, it's always the three of us!

When they were lil less than a year and half, we went to Italy for 9 days. Yeah, I'm sure people think I'm so bad leaving my kids that long. We were thinking of taking them, but it wouldn't have been a vacation lol.

@tequiero21: I figured we got a lot of people were thinking we were horrible for leaving him at 6 months...and then when we came back pregnant(surprise! Didn't know until a month and a half later Lol) people were probably really talking.

@tequiero21: as someone who took her 8 month old to Italy (family wedding) let me assure you, you did the right thing!
We left LO at 3 months or so for 4 days to look at properties in the area we were moving to.

We went to Europe for 6 days when LO was 8 months. It was fun, but looking back I think it was too soon to go so far, and I was still nursing/pumping so that made it extra difficult.

LO is 6 months and we haven't yet. She's EBF and I plan to BF for 1 year, so we'll probably go somewhere after her 1st birthday...I refuse to bring my pump on vacation!

I went away with my parents for 4 days when LO was 3 months, and then went on a ski weekend with DH when she was 4.5. I EP so it wasn't that much of a hassle. It was fun to get away, but I missed her like crazy!

DS was 4.5 months and we were away 4 days. We went about 12 hours away and I pumped the entire weekend.
