I went off the month before we started ttc. Your body can over compensate and release extra eggs that first month off...many women are *very* fertile right after coming off bc. Unless you're ok with it, i would wait until you are ready!

I went off 5 months before we planned to TTC just to make sure everything was out of my system and regulated. But then the third cycle off, we just decided to say eff it and stop preventing altogether.

I quit hormonal BC in 2009, and we'll start TTC about the time you will. I charted (FAM) as BC until a few months ago and used a back-up when it wasn't "safe."

I'm probably in the minority, but I went off my BC 2 years before we started TTC. I had finished school and we were engaged and I figured if we got pregnant we'd be ok. We used NFP during that time... I guess? It actually took 2 years for my body to start cycling on it's own again. I've always been so thankful I went off when I did because once we were ready to actively TTC it only took 1 month! Had I been on BC until that point I probably would have thought we had infertility problems.

My recommendation would be to give your body some time to adjust and go off of BC now. I was on BCP for 10 years before TTC. My first cycle off of BC was 84 days. My next cycle was 60 days and it went down from there...but my body adjusted horribly from coming off of them.

I went off bcp three months before TTC. The 1st time I had been on them for 10+ years. My periods regulated very quickly and I got pregnant the first month we tried. Second go round I had only been back on the pill for about 8 months and then got off about 3 months before TTC. Once again we got pregnant the first month we tried.

I went off my BC because my prescription ran out and we knew we were going to be trying soon anyway. We had three cycles of good ol' condoms before TTC. It was definitely helpful to know my body before we started trying!

I took my last pill at the beginning of the month. We're planning TTC around Feb. I wanted to start charting and make sure I'm actually O-ing before getting into the swing of things. We'll be using condoms til then. I hate them as well. We've only ever used them once. We're gonna try out some fun ones, though and try to not make it a chore.

The thought of an "oopsie" pregnancy before we were ready to try terrified me, so I didn't go off BCP until the 1st cycle we tried, which was last December.

PS, I'm laughing at myself because a year later and we're still trying! "Oopsie" my ass!!

I went off in Nov and we started trying properly the next June. We did NTNP the Nov/Dec but stopped because we had an overseas holiday planned. June was my first 28 day cycle, with a decent LP, so I am glad I went off so early. LO was conceived in the July.

I went off in August, and we started in November.

Went off in March 2012. First month NTNP was June 2013 and I got pregnant that first cycle.
I'm sure I wasn't ovulating for quite a few months when I first went off.

i was off for 9 months prior and my cycles never regulated before i got pregnant. i was temping/charting to track ovulation.

Just to clarify: there are ZERO concerns with getting KU immediately after stopping BCP. Most doctors recommend going off a few months before TTC because: (1) it's easier for them to date a pregnancy if your cycle regulates before you get KU; and (2) for some women it can take a while to get a regular cycle off the pill (and it doesn't really matter how long you have been on - see my earlier post on this thread). There is NO evidence that getting KU right off of BCP causes birth defects, etc. The hormones in BCP move through your system very quickly - that's why you have to take it every day.

So I say go off when you feel ready to TTC, start loosely charting to see if your cycles are ovulatory, and then go for it! If you happen to get KU right away, consider it good luck.
