I recently graduated from University (well, a year and a half ago) and up until this point have always just had "jobs." Nothing that paid well and nothing I could see myself doing forever.
Well, today is my last day of my "job" (I recently made a post about possibly quitting, and I pulled the trigger!) And Monday I have an interview for what could potentially be my career! It is pretty much my dream job and fits our family's needs perfectly.
I am 24. When did you make the transition?

I graduated from lawschool when I was 24 and started my first job as an attorney a few months later when I was 25....so 25! I'm now 32.

I majored in PR and journalism in college and had my first job in my field soon after graduation, so I was 21 when my career started!

I'm 29 and have yet to have anything I would consider a career! I've had jobs that are careers for some people and that I could have advanced in, they just weren't anything that I'd want to do for the rest of my life.

That's awesome...you're still so young! It was probably when i was 28 that i moved into a job i saw as the starting point of my career.

Congratulations!
I started my career at 24 when I graduated from Masters program and started working full-time. I still kept my part-time job at lululemon though because I wasn't ready to totally grow up!

I've been in my "career" when I graduated from college 5 years ago, but I'm not sure I want to do this forever. Until I figure out what I want to do next, I'll continue doing what I am now so I consider it a career.

Err, 28+? Ha, I am in grad school now, I will finish in May, and will (hopefully) have my 1st career-job then.

Started in my career path (taking jobs specifically chosen for experience in my field) from the beginning (16), but my husband and I signed on with our organization as career aid workers in May of this year, so 21?

I graduated from grad school at 23 and went right into my career. Everything before that was just a job.

I was 26 and kind of "fell into" my career, I needed a job after graduating (was a non-traditional student) and ended up really liking working in HR (apparently I like to deal with angry people and not make much money, huh...maybe I should re-think this career choice!)

My first career type job was a summer internship that led to an offer. I was 21. It was the first time I'd ever had to wear a collared shirt to work that didn't involve an apron
