LO is 22 months and on the small side, so he fits perfectly in his baby bath tub still. In the past, i tried just putting him in the big tub (with no water, we were going to paint) and he was afraid. So i have never even attempted a bath in there. I figured it also saves water to use the baby one for as long as possible. But at some point he will be too big for it.
Just wondering what is a common age that people typically make the transition.

At four months I'd get in the big bag with her. By six months she was in there by herself.
Now she likes to have dance parties in the tub. Can't believe L will sit still in the bath!

We did it at 9 weeks, her harness made her legs stick out at such an angle she wouldn't fit in the baby bath anymore. We had a little seat for her to sit in in the big bath. She loved the extra splash room!

7 months old or so. First she sat between my legs and as she got better at sitting, I would let her sit by herself with very little water. Now at 18 months, bath time is crazy fun for her

Around 7 months. She kept trying to crawl out of the infant bathtub so I knew it was time to let her have more space.

Around 8 months. I had her in the sink in a blooming bath before that. She loves the bath tub, she goes absolutely crazy in there!

I've seen a blow up duck tub. How about trying to put that in the big tub and slowly transition?

Around 10-12 months for both girls. To ease transition for my first, I took baths with her for a while.

6 months we took the sling out, then bathed her in the baby tub in the big tub. Then by 9 months just the regular tub.

@Smurfette: i think we took the sling out around the same time, but he has just been happily bathing in the baby tub in the big tub since then! this thread is making me think it is time to transition though...

Wow, I didn't realize people were transitioning so early.
We're still in the baby tub (or kitchen sink at grandma's) at 14 months. I'm in the same thinking that it's so much nicer to just have to fill that little bit of water rather than the whole tub. She has had baths in a full size tub, but not as a rule.

We transferred around 7/8 months when started trying to pull up on the sides of the baby tub. A couple times he came close to knocking the entire thing over, so we ditched the baby tub. DH still misses it though at 10m because he feels like it's hard to get DS clean everywhere when he can't lay him at an angle like in the baby tub.

She never had a baby bath tub but we used her bath chair & just poured water on her until about 10 ish months. Then we started giving her "big girl baths". We still use the chair occasionally (12 months) if we need to give her a quicker bath & the Chair makes it easier to wash her hair.

As soon as he was sitting well on his own (6/7 months) we switched, but with one of us in the tub with him at first. On his own completely by about ten months I think..

11 months. We used a baby tub on the counter until 5 months? Then we transitioned to a bigger toddler tub until then. Took a few times for him to adjust.

About 7 months for DS1. DS2 has been in the big tub since his 1st bath. I put him in one of those bath chairs.

3 days old. She hated the sink and we don't have a baby tub, so we laid her on a bath sponge from BRU and let the shower run. We started doing actual baths in the tub around eight months and she wasn't afraid at all. I plan on doing the same thing for the next baby.

@MamaChin: definitely easier! I don't actually think we will transition him until he no longer fits in his tub. If it's not broke, don't fix it, right!?

We used the baby bath until 6 months, then the sink for a few months and transitioned to the big bath by about 10 months. She loves the big bath! We have to have one hand on her though cause she always wants to stand up.

At 1 month, Of course DH or I are also in the tub holding him. He loved and still loves all the extra splash room!

He's still in the baby bath at 10 months. I don't know when we will switch. Maybe in a few months? He's on the smaller side and it's way easier at this point.

We did it really young -- like maybe 3 months -- b/c I started taking baths with DD. I would get in and take a bath at the same time, so I could hold her. She didn't take baths in the big tub alone until after she could sit up on her own.
If your son is scared, can you try getting in the tub with him? My daughter still love when I take a bath with her. She asks me to do it almost every night, but I only agree on occasion.
