We already turned our 3.5 YO in one of our cars because she reached the height and weight limit for that particular carseat.
But in our main family car, she is still rear facing. She's about to hit the limits on that one too, so I expect we'll be turning her around by her 4th birthday. I'm proud we've hung out this long, haha!

Not yet. She has six pounds and four inches before she outgrows her seat. Happily rear facing at 3years 4 months.

The day we brought her little sister home from the hospital, so almost 2.5. The seat didn't fit behind the drivers seat with enough to space for DH to drive comfortably. If not for that I would have kept her longer since she never complained about it.

She'll be 3 in November and is nowhere near hitting limits- nor does she seem to care yet so she's still RF, I plan to as long as we can!

Between 2 and 2.5 years old.
I believe it'll be the law to do so until 2 years for CA in 2017, so we'll do that + however long we can.

We haven't yet and LO will be 4 in a couple of weeks. She's still 12 pounds and 10" away from the RF limits

We switched when DD was about 2.75. I was going through IVF and having a hard time getting her in and out RF. She can climb in by herself when the seat is FF, so it was a lot less pressure on me. I've thought about switching it back but she really likes the view and interacting with DH and I.

He was between 2 and 2.5. He's particularly big but wasn't complaining- it just was getting really hard for me to get him in the seat. He does prefer forward facing so it's nice for him but I did worry a little at first because I had expected to wait until he was 3.

18 months with DD1 due to hysterical shrieking every minute she was in a vehicle. That was legal at the time but I think would be illegal in our state now so... DD2 is a lot better in the car so she will most likely rear face longer.

Oldest will be 3 in July and youngest is 16 months. Both are still rear facing and will be until they outgrow the limits. Our seats have extended rear facing, so I would suspect a couple years still.

We plan to go as long as he is still within the limits. Extended RF is less the norm where I'm from, but a little more common where I live now. DS is only 14 months old, but is already 3 months older than my cousin's daughter when they turned her FF. Of course, they also fed her lots of sweets and cakes at that age...

Well I'll buck the trend and be honest even though I mostly avoid these threads - we turned our son around at 9 months which is legal where we are. No regrets and no need for lectures if they are coming - I did my research & am comfortable with my choice

Just after she turned two. We could have gone longer, but we have a tiny car and I kept bumping her head when I was putting her in.

Turning 3 in less than a week and still RFing. I don't know when we will turn them, we don't drive in a car very often (maybe 1-2x a month?) and they don't know anything different, so I will leave them as long as they can.

I can't imagine LO will ever reach the limits so I'm thinking 4...he's FF in DH's car but RF in mine. He'll be 4 in Oct. (27lbs, 37ish? Inches) Limits are 40lbs and 49inches.

I just today realized that DS1 has hit the height limit for rear facing in his seat (although i think it's due to his long legs, because he's way below one inch below the top of the seat). I may switch his seat with brother's, which can rear-face longer in my car (where he rides 98% of the time), but we'll probably FF in DH's car. I wouldn't be devastated to turn him FFing, as he is now a bit over 3.5.

@Mrs Green Grass: My LO is about your son's same height/weight (she's got about a pound on him, same height) and our RF limits are the same. I was thinking last night she'll be like 7 before she maxes out at the rate she's growing lol

2.5. Her legs are crazy long and I was struggling to get in there and really tighten her straps to a place that I felt comfortable.

@ScarletBegonia: I'm glad to not be the only one to turn early! My DS1 was 17 months; all of my foster children have started FF from the time they got to us, except for the baby (he's the only one to join us before age 1). He's 12 months, and I'm considering FF when he outgrows his infant seat (just a few pounds away). None of the larger RF seats will fit in DH's car with 3 seats across the row. It's completely legal where I live to turn them at/after age 1. I've rarely hear of RF beyond age 2...that would be really unusual where I live.

Still RFing at 27 months. He'll stay that way until he outgrows the seat. He has about 8 lbs until that point so I imagine we'll be able to keep him RFing until 3.5 maybe?

I think this is a hello we / Internet thing to a certain extent. I DO think extended rear facing is better, and like I said I only turned DD at 2.5 because of the new baby, but almost no one I know kept their LOs RF until 2, much less later than that. I know one friend whose 2.75 yo is still RF.
It's a lot like extended breastfeeding- on here, BF until 2 isn't unusual, but when my LO weaned at 19 months we had gone longer than almost anyone I know.

Still RF and she will be 4 in August. I plan on switching her then. I'm proud of how long we have made it, but some people have an attitude about it... She is happy. I do think it will help entertain the baby when we flip her around, so that's a plus.

2.5. We tried at 2 and he was NOT a fan of FF. I found that to be bizarre so we kept him RF for awhile. But after traveling a bunch and taking out/re-installing the car seat, we tried FF again and he tolerated it. Now, at almost 3, he loves being able to see what we see.
