My LO is 3.5 months old and drools quite a bit, she has also started chewing her hands and trying to stuff all her fingers into her mouth at the same time. Sometimes she will just seem to cry for no clear reason. is this the early signs of teething? The baby book I have says most babies get their first tooth around 6 months. Was that true for you?

Her first tooth started cutting right before she turned 5 months. She didn't really have any drooling or fussiness to let us know until after the tooth had already come through.

You will probably need to expand the voting options. Lots of babies don't get teeth until after 7 months!

DD got her first tooth at 6 months on the dot; DS got his first tooth at 3.5 months!

LO got her first tooth at 4 months. She has 4 teeth at 7 months.

LO got her first a few days shy of 5 months. Her second came in the following day!

My LO was doing all of the things you listed at 3 months and just cut her first tooth a week ago (at 10 months). She took her first steps before her first tooth. Lol

LO got her first 2 teeth at 5.5 months.
@Mrsbells: I thought my LO was teething around 3.5 months, too, for the same reasons as you. I think a lot of babies start putting things in their mouths around that time. Even before the teeth actually cut, baby's gums will be a little swollen where the tooth is coming in. My LO didn't get fussy about teething until it was really obvious that her teeth were coming in. Hope that helps a little!

my little one was the same. he started drooling a lot and trying to chew on anything he can get his hands on. i thought he cut a tooth at last by month 4, but we're almost at month 6 and no signs of any teeth but still tons of drooling and chewing on stuff.

I voted "Later than 7 months" because my LO is almost 8 months old and I still don't see even a hint of a tooth!

my son cut his first tooth at almost 7 months. before then he drooled A LOT!

both charlie and olive got theirs at 7 months and they kept coming nonstop after that. Olive has 7 teeth now and she just turned 10 months yesterday.
i know babies that didn't even have a tooth at 10 months+
