LO is 17 mo and obsessed with buckles. She's gotten surprisingly quick at buckling her high chair buckle. I assume it will be a long time before she can unbuckle something but how long?
When did your LO learn to unbuckle something?

He just started last month! 21 months today! We usually catch him before he gets it unbuckled completely.

I'm 33 and have trouble unbuckling DSs car seat lol
He, luckily, at 18m hasn't tried yet.

Right now! 22m and can undo DSs chest buckle (Graco) in his car seat. She is obsessed doing it up/undoing it when he isn't in the seat. Every other buckle she loves to do up, but so far can't undo.

At around 18 months of age. I bought him a buckle toy pillow thing.

@looch: 18 months? That was my fear. Once your LO could undo toy buckles did they progress quickly to the real thing (car seat, stroller)?

I'm pretty sure he unbuckled the shoulder strap from my diaper bag yesterday. He's 11 months - HOW?!

DS is almost 17 months and loves buckles - whether they be the ones on his high-chair, stroller, car seat or a shopping cart. He insists on doing it himself and has a fit if we try to do it for him, but sometimes we just have to do it. Yesterday though was the first time he did it himself. I left the shopping cart buckle undone for him to play with and he was able to buckle himself in once! He was so proud. But he wasn't able to replicate it afterwards and kept crying because of it.
ETA: I forgot to answer your question! As of yesterday he can only buckle himself, not unbuckle.

@Corduroy: My son's fine motor skills are very good, much better than his gross motor. He actually began with unbuckling his high chair straps, so I figured I'd better distract him. He can also do and undo the chest clip on his car seat, I am not so crazy about that one, but he knows better than to touch the crotch buckle.
