DD1 was sitting up unassisted for a couple minutes at a time when she was six months old (tripod sitting at 4.5 months).
With DD2, she will be six months in 10 days and is nowhere near even tripod sitting. If I try and put her in the sitting position, she just sandwiches in half.

DD is 5.5 months and has been sitting unassisted for very short periods of time for about a week. She hasn't figured out tripoding yet, though, so when she loses her balance she just tips over. She's been sitting with assistance for over a month at this point, though, and much prefers sitting to lying down.

DS was tripod sitting at 5 months and unassisted by 5.5 months. DD will be 6 months next week and in the past 2 weeks she's been sitting tripod. She's pretty close to unassisted I think.
With DD it was a quick change though. One week she was arching and falling immediately and then all of a sudden she'd actually stay up!

My LO really just started sitting unassisted in the last couple weeks and she is 9 months. She's been crawling for 2 months but just could not master sitting. She'd always fall to the side and then once she started crawling she just didn't want to have anything to do with sitting. Even now at 9m she'll only sit for a brief time before she either falls over or purposefully moves to stomach.

I think about four-and-a-half months... she would do the splits while face down on the floor then sit up really quickly - she is crazy flexible.

B was tripod sitting by 4.5 months (I really worked with him on it because our favorite photographer told me to book a session as soon as he was sitting on his own haha). By 5 months, he could sit unassisted.
E was 5.5 months before tripod sitting but sitting unassisted at 6.5 months.

Tripod sitting at 3.5 months, unassisted sitting at 5 months. She was holding her head up super duper early though... Miss Independent.

Around 5 months. But around 5.5 when her arms were longer she was even better at it.

5.5 for sitting unassisted. I never really tried to get her to sit unassisted. I just forgot about it. DH came home one Friday and decided he wanted to teach her how to sit by herself. (I totally gave him the side eye). By Monday she was doing it

She never did tripod. She liked to sit up super straight and her hands didn't reach the floor! She was 5.5mths.

LO was 4.5 months the first time she ever did a tripod (I know that because I was wrapping Christmas presents the first time she did it). She was tripod sitting regularly at 5 months.
She was 7 months before she sat unassisted.

Around 5 months I think? He couldn't do it at all and then the next week he was a pro. It happen so quickly!
