My DD was 6.5 months when she started army crawling.
The baby is 9 months and she just rolls. She had a well appointment today and the Dr. (not our regular ped) told DH to call back if she isn't army crawling or crawling by 10 months.

he didnt army crawl. he started crawling at 8 months? walked a few months later. he was obsessed more with standing at an early age than crawling, so we thought he was going to skip it altogether!

He started the regular crawl at 7 months (never did the army crawl). Walked at 9 months.

@autumnlove: Crawling isn't technically a developmental milestone. Many babies skip crawling and go straight to walking and that's totally normal. I think what they do want to see is that the baby is making some effort toward being mobile, but that can take many forms including bum scooting, rolling etc.
To answer your question though, DD is 9 months and just started crawling (well, her version of crawling) two weeks ago. When I was a baby I never crawled.

@heartonastring: I'm glad to hear that crawling isn't a necessary milestone. I haven't researched it at all but there is another mom in our church's nursery who likes to spew doom and gloom about babies that never crawl and move to walking instead. I was explaining how at 7 months DS really hadn't shown signs of wanting to crawl (and actually, in the last few weeks, that's changed completely and he's an army crawling machine) and she was all "that shows they will have poor coordination."
Well great. Thanks for making me feel peachy!

I think N was 8 months, but J started right around the 6 month mark - I was not ready for that!! But he took longer to sit up, pull to standing, and cruise than his sister.

@heartonastring: that makes sense!
J started crawling just after Mothers Day when he was almost 6 months old. Within 4 weeks he was pulling up to stand and 4 weeks later walking while holding on/cruising.
Our non-mobile phase was short-lived.

8 months here and no sign of it. I think she might skip it, which like others have mentioned, my ped said is totally fine. Though he was surprised when at 6 months she was sitting unassisted for 5-10 minutes but not rolling consistently.

crawled right before his 9 month check up, like within the same week. He never really army crawled though. He tried, but he didn't really make it anywhere.

We never saw any army crawling. He didn't start crawling until a little before 10 months. Our pediatrician told us the same thing that sometimes they skip crawling (since we asked when he wasn't doing it quite yet at his 9 month appt).

11 months for DD, and DS still isn't crawling at 14 months (he butt scoots, though).
