K has been doing open mouth kiss/plants for a few weeks, but this week it seems really intentional and she actually kisses me on the mouth with her mouth wide open though! Lol! Until this week, I wasn't sure if she was really trying to kiss me. When did your LO start kissing?

hmmhh... recently my husband asked my 7 month old to give him a kiss and she smacked him in the face. Does that count?

I guess it seems too statistically early for her to be intentionally kissing me, but even DH points out she's kissing me?

We get mostly smacked too but sometimes it seems like he is trying to eat our face kiss us when we kiss him or ask for kisses.

Around 7 months she was kind of doing it but it wasn't until she was almost one that you could ask her for a kiss and she would give you one. (only on her terms, she is such a tease!)

Today! He's a couple days shy of 19 months. For the past month he has been offering me his forehead to kiss and my husband his forehead to head butt.
Today he finally imitated me making kissing noises, so we bumped lips a few times and he got it! It's still kinda open mouth like what you describe, but much less tongue than when he was smaller like K.

She started doing big, wet open mouth kisses at about 12 months. At about 16-17 months she started giving real kisses on request. Now at 19 months, she'll make little mwah noises with her kisses. But she's definitely selective about when and who she gives her kisses and hugs to.

I think around 8 or 9 months she started kissing me! I love it when she decides she wants to give me a kiss because they are few and far between

LO is 6.5 months and hasn't started giving kisses yet. one time i thought he was coming in for a kiss but just ended up sucking on my chin.

I'd say around 7 months or 8 months for both my kids? They are big open mouth slobber kisses at first!!

She's consistently giving open mouth kisses at 10 months, she started around 8 1/2 months but I wasn't sure that's what she was doing!

Lots of open mouth kisses with a "muah" sound at around 12 months. He used to only do it for me but now he's 14 months and he'll give other people kisses. Sad...I want to be selfish and hoard them all for myself!

B is not much of a kisser, but he runs at us and hugs us when we say "give momma a hug" or "give dadda a hug"

@edelweiss: @LuLu Mom: I think this is our case right now. But she has pretty good mouth accuracy and looks at me when she does it. Makes my heart melt, even if she doesn't know what she's doing yet.

At 5 months she started allowing herself to be kissed and she'd open her mouth
Just this morning though I was carrying her and she put one hand on my face and leaned in and sucked on my cheek. It was so freaking cute even though it wasn't really a kiss.

@shopaholic: I definitely think she's starting to get that kisses are nice, since we kiss her and kiss eachother and kiss the dog, lol. We make her dollies hiss her. I don't know that she gets the mechanics of it yet. I can't wait for that first real kiss

I am sure it started at 3 months, when he would offer them all the time, he started giving them when we asked for them at about 7 months old. He has always been a big kisser - he lays one on me randomly at least a dozen times a day!

L has started making kissy sounds and has on occasion given me an open mouth swak, I always assumed she was just trying to latch on to my face.

Just recently, around 9 months. I have to demonstrate and then I say "kiss please!" and he'll attack my cheek with an open mouth. Today was too funny, he was doing lots of kisses on command so I tried to get him to kiss daddy, and held him up to daddy's cheek, and he kissed me instead. I don't think he understands that you can kiss other people, since I'm the only one who has been training him to do it!

DS started giving me kisses right around 12 months, but I have to ask. I was quite surprised with the first couple of kisses where he grabbed my face with both hands and kissed me right on the mouth. Like, where did he learn to do that??!! Nowadays, I'll ask him to give me kisses, his stuffed animals a kiss, and today, I asked him to kiss his auntie over Facetime, and lo and behold, he went to kiss the screen. That made my heart melt.

DD will just put her head in front of my mouth for me to give her a kiss, no kisses from her! But if I kiss her face she will open her mouth like she either wants to kiss me or put me in her mouth!!

Open mouth kissing started around 7/8 months too. Then he started giving them on his own with no prompting around 10 months, and now at 14 he gives kisses on his own, when asked for a "kissy", instructed to give one, and hugs after too
