C is three weeks old and acts like we are torturing her when we give her a bath. I assume eventually she will start to like it, but when did your lo start to enjoy it? Or if not enjoy, tolerate or be soothed by it?

My LO loves the bath, it calms him down instantly. However, getting out of the bath is another story! Kind of defeats the purpose of bathing him to relax him, because he freaks out once he's being dried off!

R hated the bath the first time and has grown to like it more and more ever since. I agree with @Pepper: though, she doesn't like being toweled off as much as the actual bath!

She loved it from the first one! It calms her. A trick when she was in the infant sling was to put a warm washcloth down so it helped keep her warm.

M started liking it around 2 weeks, but I figured out it was because before then the water wasn't warm enough. We weren't making it that warm because we were scared of burning her or it being too hot but she would freak because she was so cold in it! As soon as I started making the water warmer I noticed a huge difference. Now she seems to actually enjoy it!

She started likening it around 2-3 weeks. I also put a washcloth over her belly to keep her warmer. She loves it when I rinse off her hair, the warm running water is her fave.

As soon as his cord stump fell off and we could give him a real bath with water in the tub, he loved them! The key for us, like other PPs said, is making sure he's warm enough. I constantly pour warm water over him or place the washcloth on his belly.

She loves them. I think it really helps her calm down for the night. She makes the most pathetic "I'm cold" face in the world. I can't help but laugh at her when we are drying her off, because she acts like she's been stuck in a pile of snow

LO didn't love or hate it at the beginning, although i felt like he was a bit weirded out by the whole thing. it took about 3 months for him to like it. although it's not really calming for him--it's playtime.
do you think it would help at all if you sat in the bathtub with her (a regular tub, obviously!)--maybe she'd be more comfortable if she was being held/cuddled during the bath? i realize that's a pain, though. just an idea.

Xander never really minded baths, but around 5 months was when he started to actually like them! Now he kicks and splashes and laughs when he's in the bath!

Exactly at 6 weeks. I think it was a combined age thing and ditching the newborn sling and putting her directly in the infant tub.

E love, love, loves the bath! She hates being taken out of the bath though!

Maybe it is too cool- I'm afraid of making it too hot though. I have one of those silly temperature ducks, have to bust one out.
@edelweiss: I think she is too little to bring in the big tub with me now, but I do think we will both like it later on.
When you all do the washcloth on her tummy to keep her warm- break that down for me. Is it wet? Run under warm water? I tried that yesterday with no luck.

Oh and the only part she doesn't mind is getting out and getting wrapped up in the towel!

@Foodnerd81: I think around 6 weeks she started tolerating it better and really enjoyed it from 8 weeks up

Always? I think the first few days, she would open her eyes wide, like "wth is going on?!" But she has always loved the bath.

DS loved the bath from day 1, thankfully! Like @Pepper:, the moment we lift him out to be toweled off, he's screaming!!

We did sponge baths from birth until his umbilical cord fell off--he hated those! Once we moved him into the sink (around 4 weeks) it was smooth sailing.

i can't remember when he stopped crying (at least a few weeks i guess?). But once he was able to sit up and splash is when he started to have fun. now he cries when we take him out.

When I started running a heater in the bathroom! As soon as we started closing the door and turning on a space heater a few minutes before the bath, everything turned around and they loved bath time. Tinies just hate being cold so much! We used a heater from about 2 weeks to 3 months. By then it was summer and they were older and didn't really need the heat as much anymore. I highly recommend trying this!

@Mrs. Blue: I thought about that, or just closing the bathroom door to get it a little steamy. We bathe her in her tub in the kitchen sink but its air conditioned out here. I turn the ac off during but it's still cool. Maybe well try in the bathroom next time.

My LO liked it from day one. She is a little pickier now but just loves water!
@Foodnerd81: we have those silly ducks and I think they are too sensitive, like the water will be barely lukewarm and they will say hot. I ignored them and tried to think about having a slightly warm bath and that seemed to work. You have to figure out what works for your lo!
