LO sometimes acts like she is going to scoot around, then gets frustrated. I'm wondering what the norm is for her to actually be able to move around rather it be crawling, scooting, rolling her way across the room etc. So far, she doesn't seem to have too much interest. She will be 6 months old this week.

I don't remember when she started, but the older of the two LOs I nannied was crawling by 8-9m. I can't remember her sister! LO still isn't rolling back to front so it'll definitely be awhile here, lol. she spins in circles on her back in her crib and on my bed though by pushing with her feet. She's 5m!

LO started army crawling at 6mo. Was fun from a milestone standpoint but he is into everything now at 8mo!

6 months + a week. He actually figured out how to sit, stand and crawl in a 3 day period.

He started army crawling/worming (gets up on knees, flops to belly, pulls forward, repeat) at 5 months. Now at 6 he can go from belly to sitting position, pull up with support and has started putting one foot flat with knee bent while sitting. >_<

My LO is sort of doing something similar. He still gets frustrated and upset being on his tummy. This weekend, he's been sitting unsupported for short periods. I'm thinking that we're going to get sitting before crawling with our guy.

@cascademom: Yeah she has mastered sitting for the most part, but crawling/moving...not so much!

He scooted around from 6.5-7.5 months and then started crawling just before 8 months -- never army crawled.

My LO never rolled around or scooted on his front or back. He was stationary until he started crawling at 8.5 months.

@Bao: Nice! It seems like sitting just sort of stuck this weekend. Every time I hear of other babies reaching milestones before my LO, I have to settle down and know that he's going at his own pace.

LO rolled as transportation from around 6 - 7.5 months. Starting around 7.5 months he crawls backwards. Just now, almost 9 months old, he is crawling forward (slowly).

She never rolled, scooted, or army crawled but she started crawling on Friday at a little over 7 months! She sometimes does this inch worm thing but for the most part, she's actually crawling.

@cascademom: same here! That is why I am a little worried about her not having an interest in scooting around, since her little friends (some a few weeks younger) are already doing this. I try not to compare

@cascademom: My LO was content to sit too after he mastered sitting. They really do things on their own timeline. I try hard not to compare LOs milestones because it's not fair to him.

@Bao: With my LO, he just sort of goes for it when he's ready to. One weekend, he just started rolling all around the living room floor. Since then, he's been a little rolling machine. I think that was about a month ago, so 5 months old.
@littlek: The sitting was sort of a surprise this weekend because we prop him up to sit on my feeding pillow or when he gets clingy. This time, he just sits there happy and unsupported. He's not completely sitting without assistance, but he's right there.

My daughter scooted backwards starting at 5.5 months, at now at 6.5 months she is army crawling. I'm excited for her but really need to start baby proofing!

My daughter started rolling to get places around 6 or 7 months, scooting after that. She started trying to crawl around 9 months, maybe, but didn't really switch to it full time until 12 months. She walked right before 16 months.

Hands and knees crawling at six months. Scooting at five months.

He starting worming/scooting/lunging and flopping at 5.5 months and just crawled for the first time yesterday at around 6.5 months.

My LO is 6 months today and will raise her butt high in the air and slide forward a bit. At night she turns circles on her tummy. But no sitting unassisted or crawling yet. I'm trying to enjoy the last little bit of stationary time before she starts getting into everything!

@autumn865: Haha, that's what it looks like. She does like you describe, pushes her butt up in the air and then kind of slides her upper body forward so she's actually moving forward.
