T is only 5 months old but doesn't seem anywhere close to sitting unsupported yet. I'm not worried but I've just noticed a few babies close in age to him are sitting. Then again, T never TRIES to do anything. He just starts doing them. Haha! So tomorrow he may be sitting.
Just got me curious as to when your LO started sitting unassisted!

Between 5-6 months. But she was like T- she didn't try things until she can actually do them. So it was like, one she wasn't interested, a week later she was sitting unassisted like it was no big deal. (You mean sitting stable, not like doing a sit up, right?)

Started at 6 months but I wouldn't have said he was steady until 7 months.

She started sitting for short, wobbly periods a little after 5 months and was stable around 6 months.

6.5 months, right around Christmas, I like to think it is because she wanted to sit up and play with her new toys lol

She was tripod sitting at 4 months & "regular" sitting at 5 months. She is like athlete baby with super strong muscles and little body weight/fat. I'm jealous of my baby's physique... is that weird?!

It was the week he turned 6 months. He just suddenly stayed upright when we set him down!

I've photographed a lot of 6 month babies and it is about 50/50 on whether they can sit up steadily.

@Danizaur: T is so precious! Once they start sitting on their own it's like they suddenly look so old. He will be doing it any day now and you'll be all "where did my baby go?!" They learn new things so fast!

Tripod at 5 months, and regular sitting around 6 months. I think it was quite a while before she could get herself into a sitting position unassisted though.

5.5 months. She never tripod sat. I could see it coming because she was getting more and more steady sat on my lap.

C started sitting unassisted at five months - she was unsteady at 4.5 months and steady at 5 months.
E didn't sit on her own until 7.5 months but that's her personality - she won't do anything until she's sure she can do it.

He could tripod at 4 months and sit unassisted at 6 months. He's a really active guy and really had to build up strength in order to sit while not being still.

I would say he could sit semi-steadily around 5-6 months, but still needed pillows around him in case he toppled over until about 6.5/7 months.

Straight up, unassisted at 6.5 months (the very same day he started crawling, actually).
