LO's 6.5 months and can't sit up alone for more than 5-6 seconds at a time. She can "tripod" unassisted for a few seconds but will inevitably topple over. She will also hunch over and fall forward.
When was your LO able to sit up alone?

My first sat up around 6.5 months. My second didn't sit up til well into her 7th month. I seriously thought she had back problemfile a while. Turns out she was just not interested until she was ready. Your LO will get there.

She just learned to sit unassisted a couple weeks ago (at 7 months maybe?) and is now almost able to get herself into a sitting position.

She started doing it just before 5 months. She's 5 months and 1 week and is getting pretty good at it, actually.
However, she's still not rolling over. All babies do things in their own time.

DD will be 7 months in a week and still can't sit up. She can't even tripod!

My LO sat on his own for 64 seconds (yes I counted!) at 5.5 months. Now at 6.5 months he can sit unassisted for 10-15 minutes but he will still topple over easily so I always stay nearby. He is far from getting himself in a sitting position though.

Right at 6 months my son could support himself when put into a sit. It wasn't until about 8 months before he could put himself into a sit.

@MungBean: my baby is 4.5 months and can sit unassisted for a few seconds especially if she leans forward.
From what I understand its all about how strong their head and neck is. We keep our baby on her belly a lot and she sleeps on her belly so her head and neck is very strong. So if you area eager for her to sit up sooner then do much more tummy time

My LO is a little over six months and he can sit for a little while. But, he has the transition from sitting to tummy really well, and now he likes to roll all over.

Both our girls started sitting at 4 months. Lala was very reliable from the beginning, but M's sit became reliable at 5.5 months.

Our daycare providers say that LO can get into a sitting position on her own but I have yet to see it at home. She is 8 months!

My LO will be four months in two days and this morning she sat on the ground entirely unassisted for 14 seconds...so I am assuming she will be good at it in a month or so?
