DD is 3.5 and hasn't started yet but has been Day potty trained for at least a year now. I'm not sure what the range of normal is here. Did you follow their lead or did you have to initiate?

My son will be 5 in a couple weeks and still doesn't wake up to pee. Our pediatrician says it's normal.

Is your LO peeing in their diaper at night? Ours did until she was about 2.5, then we noticed she was waking up dry, so we just switched to undies. She doesn't wake up in the middle of the night to pee - she just holds it until the morning. We do make her go right before bed, and while I don't limit water, I'm careful she doesn't have free range with the tap right before bed.

When DS day trained he was immediately waking up dry in the mornings and would cry out for us at night. He was 2.5 years old.

DS was 3 in November and I think some time last fall he started having dry pull ups over night so we moved to undies instead. It took some back and forth and we went back to pull ups around Christmasfor a few weeks but then he really wanted undies. So it's been since the middle of January with undies and I think he hasn't had any bed wetting. He usually sleeps through, but a couple nights ago he did get up around 1am to potty.
TLDR version - it seems to have become consistent around 3.25, lol.

@littlejoy: yes, her pull up is wet every morning. It's never been dry.
@KT326: ahh, I'm glad to know this!

Around 22 months she started waking and saying she had to go!
She is 27 months still wears a pull up to bed but will wake dry one night, little wet the next or wakes to go!

@FaithFertility: wow! My 23 month old doesn't even tell me when she poops, ha. That's pretty awesome.

@Mrs. Sunshine: My 3.5 year old wakes up with a soaked pullup 8/10 nights. I'm not pushing it. Maybe this summer when I'm off work, I'll wake her to pee before I go to bed and see if that does the trick, but otherwise I am fine with just waiting on her to do it.

We trained at 2.5 and she's been dry at night the whole time.
I don't think she's ever woken up to pee.

My 4yo has a wet pull up every morning, but has been Day trained for well over a year. I'm not concerned. It's a physiological thing - every kid is different!

We switched DD to underwear at night when she was 3. She wakes to pee sometimes but mostly sleep through the night. I just make sure she pees right before going to bed.

LO is 3.5 and we're about to move to underwear overnight. She's been saying for awhile that she doesn't want to wear pull-ups to bed anymore so we told her once she's dry overnight for a few weeks we'd move to underwear. She's been dry for the last month so I guess it's time. She doesn't usually wake up to pee overnight but if she does she pages us using her audio monitor. I can't wait til she starts going independently!

She will be 4 tomorrow and still doesn't. Been trained a 1.5 years now. Sometimes she does wake up and go, or will wake up dry but not regularly.

DD1 trained at 2.5y and wasn't consistently dry (enough for us to remove the waterproof mattress pad!) until 3.75y or so.
DD2 is just starting to train at 27m, but she is already staying dry most naps/night and waking in the MOTN to pee (*yawn*!!)

DD is 3 years 5 months and she just switched from pull-ups to underwear at night about a month ago. We've kept a small potty in her room at night for over 6 months now and sometimes she'd use it (even with the pull-up) and sometimes not, so this is the first that she's been relatively consistent. As is, she's had maybe 2 accidents since the switch. We were happy to keep her in pull-ups as long as she needed but she was the one who asked us to switch to undies at night.

@KayKay: never remove the waterproof mattress pad! My 8yr old threw up last week and thank goodness we had that pad - it was soaked!!!

well, we have a 4 y.o. who still completely saturates her pull up every night. i don't think she's had more than 1 dry one in the 2 years she's been pee trained. we accidentally forgot to put one on her last week and she woke up at 4 am covered in pee. so i still have pull ups on my subscribe and save on amazon. maybe one day.

Gotcha. Yeah, I think it's something to do with a muscle memory development?? And that can happen anywhere from 2-6? From what I remember on the boards when we were potty training, some parents would do a night wake-up, but we didn't want to risk it because we have a really bad sleeper. Fortunately, she holds it (and I think most kids do once they're bladders and anatomy are physically ready).
