LO is 9 months and usually just in a onesie. When do I start putting shorts or a skirt on her?

Whenever you want! I never took the LO out in just a onesie. She always had something on the bottom, even in the summer.

From the start-I received a lot of really cute dresses when she was born and would just put her in those. It was rare that she was ever in just a onsie.

Hehe... in the summers I dressed Wagon Jr. in one-piece rompers. Kind of like a short sleeved (or non-sleeved) onesie that extended down into shorts. Loved those! Too bad he's too big for them now

I always put bottoms on my LO. When it's warm she wears a tank or tshirt and cotton pants. I just recently started putting shorts and skorts on her.

Weird, my LO is never in bottoms! We don't even own any. It's either a onesie or a dress.

I had LO in footed rompers until she was almost 3 months. And even after she started wearing shirts and pants I liked it if the pants had feet built in - socks never stayed on her feet and it was cold. Now at almost 6 months she wears a onesie, shirt and pants (usually leggings)...it's still not that warm here.

@sandy: It's SOOOOOO hot here. LO hasn't worn socks in months!

If we are going outside the house I always put pants or shorts or baby legs or something on my son. I don't see anything wrong with just a onesie if that is what you are comfortable with. For me though, it is like leaving the house in your pajamas, I don't do it and if I don't do it, why should I do it to my son?

Is she crawling? I have an early crawler (army crawled at 5.5 months and really crawled at 6 months!) so I put pants on her to protect her knees ever since then. Either pants or babylegs...

Too many cute clothes here to waste a moment without something on the bottom!

@pelikila: She doesn't wear a onesie to sleep in though. She wears footy pj's.
@NYCaliMama: She just started crawling at 9 months. But even if I did put bottoms on her, it would be shorts. Too hot here for pants!

Funny, I don't think, of all the clothes we have for our baby, that we have many pants. I might need to check when we get home to see what we do/don't have. She'll be born in the summer, though so pants are definitely not going on her until it's cooler outside.

@mediagirl: Well apparently I never got the memo. LO doesn't have any shorts! She only wore pants when it was cool out. I thought onesies were appropriate baby wear... guess I have to go shopping!

@artbee: LOL I thought onesies were appropriate baby wear, as well!! OMG, we are (and are going to be) horrible parents. Our babies need pants!

If I lived in Florida, I'm pretty sure that neither LO nor I would be wearing pants.

He still rarely goes out fully dressed. Yesterday he went to daycare in a t-shirt and diaper. We do cloth diaper so that is bottoms to me. Most of the time if we are staying home, he hags out just in a diaper.
He is also fully dressed in a onsie with baby legs on. I know I am not the "coolest" parent or whatever. I don't care.

@mediagirl: I'm glad I'm not alone! My poor LO has gone 9 months pantless (except in the winter of course)
@brownie: My LO is also cloth diapered and I count them as bottoms. Why buy such cute diapers if you're not going to show them off?

LO is usually in a onesie at home and I'll put pants on her if we go out.

We used to live in a place where it was 90 degrees, 90% humidity year round and LO was always just in a onesie as well.

I only put on pants sometimes when I feel bad about all the pants we got as gifts and he's not wearing. Most of the time LO is just in a onesie or t-shirt, but lately at home I don't even bother with a shirt; it's too hot! Then again, I feel like his pants are not too comfy because of his big cloth diaper.

My son was always dressed, but in totally simple things. He was a winter baby in a cold climate and we have tile floors, so I felt better keeping him a little covered up.

Random, after I posted here today, I got home and there was a box from my husband's best friend. 6 pairs of pants in there! Haha. They probably won't get used because they're 3 month pants but, you never know.

What a funny thread. Personally, I feel like a onesie is just a t-shirt.
My babe has been wearing pants and socks over his onesies since he first got dressed at 12 hours old (and now he's 2.5 weeks). He only has 3 pairs of pants that fit him, so we've used those a lot already. It has been pretty cold here. If it were hot I might do just the onesie. And when it's really hot I do look forward to having him in just his cute cloth diapers.

I didn't buy any bottoms. I've bought dresses, socks, and cute baby legwarmers, but no bottoms unless it happened to come in a bundle. I have 2 bottoms and both came in some bundle and LO's won't be able to wear in until she's at least crawling. I also don't plan on buying any bottoms ... more sleep and plays, or overalls for the onsies but no plain bottoms.
