I nursed for 19 months (only 1/2 times a day after a year), and I didn't get my period back until I was 21 months pp. And two years later, I am still all over the place with my period (I was 28 days on the dot prior to having DS).

I got mine at 7 months pp. I was still ebf, but this was about the time she dropped her last night feeding and started enjoying solids a bit more.

My cycle returned at 10.5 months postpartum. Kiddo was still nursing at least 6-8 times a day. It was regular right away, and I was able to get pregnant easily, but wasn't able to stay pregnant until kiddo was 15 months old and down to 4 nursing sessions a day.

ETA: I continued to breastfed until my daughter self weaned when she was 19 months and I was about 18 weeks pregnant.

I was only a few months PP. I nursed for a while and it was regular, but not as frequent. Maybe once every 35 days. It was lighter during that time.

DS started sleeping through the night at approximately 10-11 weeks and my period came back a few weeks later at 4 months PP.

My supply took a huge and unrecoverable hit.

@agold: I was disappointed. lol I hope I have a longer break this time around.

Lo1, can't remember, nursed til 24 mos
Lo2, 10 months, still nursing at 13 months. Had a couple light little spottings at 8 and 9 months before it came back for real.

@agold: I had two early miscarriages and two chemicals. I don't know for sure, but I believe it was caused by low progesterone. I think that my body just wasn't quite ready to sustain a pregnancy and provide that much nutrition to my daughter at the same time, and so soon after having her. I credit time, making sure to eat a very healthy diet, and taking care of myself with this successful (currently 29 weeks) pregnancy. The human body is amazing! Everyone's experience is definitely different.

After DS1, it came back at 11 months and I got pregnant the next cycle. After DS2, it came back at 10 months and I got pregnant two cycles later. Both times, I was still nursing 4-5 times per day. I completely weaned at 13-14 months.

I nursed until 16 months. I got my period back at 5 months postpartum, and got pregnant when DD1 was 14 months.

Came back at 7 months. Weaned at 13 when I got pregnant because I was nervous about the potential miscarriage risk.

My period came back today! DS is 7.5 months old and I'm still nursing/pumping, although we night weaned recently because he started sleeping longer at night.

@agold: Fingers crossed! Seems like it's about 50/50 on periods holding off until weaning with people I know in real life.

#1, period came back around 7 months. So after starting solids. She never nursed at night by then unless sick. Weaned at 18m.

#2 no period until 12m, weaned at 13-14m. But he always nursed at least once at night so I credit that to the difference. Who knows!

I had one period at the beginning of April, and my second started today. My doctor says it's normal for them to be wonky like that while still BFing...

Lo1 at 4 months pp and I was pregnant by 10 months pp. Nursing a huge baby all the time, but he was an ok night sleeper so I guess that did it. Lo2 at 6 months pp, but they have been either short or long cycles.

5 weeks postpartum while exclusively breastfeeding. had one every 25-35 days. then regularly every 28-29 days after I stopped breastfeeding at 9mo.

6 months postpartum, and I was still nursing her 6-7 times a day plus once overnight until 16 months (didn't fully wean till 2 years). My friend got pregnant within a month of her night-weaning (she never got her period, just got pregnant that first cycle).
