My husband and I were chatting about being excited for the times our 4 month old will cuddle with us as opposed to her current preference to wiggle and just want to see over our shoulders when she is held. When did this happen for your infant? Do some babies never get cuddly?

Some babies are never cuddly. My first never was. My second is more cuddly, but is also very active. If he gets hurt (he's 10m) then he wants to cuddle for awhile.

Haha I had one non-cuddler (he is 2.5 and I get snuggles if he is super tired or not feeling well...otherwise its a hug and hes off!) and one cuddler (shes 8 months and would snuggle all day!) I think it is a personality thing. Sorry momma

Depends on the baby. My son was very cuddly and still is at 3. My daughter is almost 6 months and has no interest in cuddling - she just wants to be on the floor moving around. Even when she nurses, she wants out of the chair the minute she's done.

I only have one so far and she's been cuddly since birth, still is at 2. It's funny how different personalities can be. Second baby is due in December and I just don't know what I'll do if she isn't a cuddler too! I won't know how to deal.

My 15mo old is still not cuddly, but he loves to give hugs at least. I can't blame him, I like my space too when resting so maybe he gets it from me

My almost 11 mo old got soo cuddly around 9-10 months! She always puts her head on me, touches my face, hugs me, comes over and body slams onto me... Love it!

My 2 year old has never been cuddly. I have hopes for my baby- he likes being held so who knows!

My almost 4 year old was never a cuddler. Fresh out of the womb at the hospital and he was wiggling around to get out of the swaddle blankets. When he was in the rocker/bouncer/etc. he would just sit and kick his legs nonstop, haha. He was an early walker and is just a really physical kid.

My first didn't get cuddly until he was two. My second was a little snuggle bug from the get go.

My daughter wasn't cuddly until toddlerhood, closer to two, when she started being more clingy. So far me three week old loves being held. His sister loved her swing, he will fall asleep laying on a person.

But, as others are saying, it is not something all babies will do so we will see. I'm sure she will have her moments, at least!

She's 7 mo and not that cuddly unless she's tired. She prefers to kick me in the stomach and claw at my face. I do love that she holds onto me when I carry her now. She also smiles a lot

DS was cuddly since birth, but didn't learn to give kisses till almost three! I don't know why
DD got cuddly around 2 months.

@ldh112: around 5/6 months my DD started to get more cuddly. she would nuzzle in to my shoulder and actually let me snuggle with her when laying down. still not for very long but it's awesome!

7 months and not a cuddler. She is a very happy baby, but the only time she stops moving is when she's asleep! I can't even sit down and rock her, she squirms until I stand. She was head down until 39 weeks when she decided to stand up, so it all makes sense now
Although she does fall asleep nuzzled into me when I'm walking her around before bed and I love it so much. -
My 14 month old son LOVES to cuddle. He has been a cuddler since 6 months. I got lucky though, I know a lot of babies his age want nothing to do with mom or dad!

Nope, I've not a non-cuddler too. Unless sick or super tired. He does love to be held, but I think that is more to "see" than to snuggle.

Some never do. My older LO didn't get cuddly until well into toddlerhood. My younger LO has been cuddly since birth though! I'm glad I got at least one cuddler!

Some just aren't as cuddly. My first always has been, but my second, while she loved being held and rocked, never cuddled *in* as a baby, if that makes sense. Now, at 20 months, she'll cuddle *sometimes*.

Even as a teeny tiny newborn E hated being held close. I couldn't even feed her in my arms, I had to put her in a bouncy chair and feed her face to face (bottle feeding!). At 2, she's still not cuddly. She will come for a quick snuggle if she's tired or ill but then she's off again!

My son wasn't really that cuddly as a baby unless he was sick. But as a preschooler he is very lovey, great hugs and likes to snuggle; on his own terms of course.

@ldh112: lol never.... My DD is 6 months and has never been a snuggly baby in any way. Other than maybe the first two or three weeks when she was a newborn she has wanted to be put down/stretch out. I get sad about it sometimes but I shouldn't be surprised since neither my husband or I are snugglers!

DS is 4 months and starting to get cuddly. He hugs on to us when we hold him (before he starts tearing my hair out). He's always needed to be held.
DD got cuddly when DS was born.

DS is not and has never been a cuddler unless sick. Never wanted to be held close or facing in as a newborn even. Wouldn't let me wear him. He's 2.5 and he's just a busy, independent boy and he'll give me hugs on request but they are little pat pat hugs and run away to play.

She's been cuddly since birth, but I think being a preemie may have been an advantage there. She was so sleepy! I'm hoping she stays that way, but my mom says I was super cuddly until I got mobile, and then I just wanted to be on the move, so we'll see!
DD got cuddly around 2 months.
