Always before (as they are wrapped). Builds the anticipation:)

As soon as the tree goes up, which is typically thanksgiving week, I have presents under the tree. And they continue to go under as they are ready. The only thing that comes out Christmas Eve is the Santa gift.

We have always done it this way and DD has never really messed with them. Though when she was one I stopped putting most things in gift bags because I assumed she would be more tempted to open those. And one year I was giving my mom something very fragile so I didn't put that out until Christmas - but that was honestly more to do with the cat messing with it.

Usually just on Christmas Eve, but this year I was getting tired of tripping over the wrapped presents in my closet so I put them under the tree yesterday.

I voted both - I typically put things out as I wrap but hold back Santa gifts and sometimes others if they are breakable or I just don’t get around to it. Right now we have a good amount under the tree, many for relatives we won’t see until later, the ones for dh and a few for the kids. They were interested for a couple days but then forgot about it!

Christmas Eve! I think sometimes before growing up but my cat eats ribbons and the toddler has no impulse control so.

Growing up my mom put them out as they were wrapped. Before kids, mine went out as they were wrapped, but now with the nearby 4 year old and a still crazy but almost 3 year old cat they stay in my closet or locked in the guest room until Christmas Eve

Presents from us go under the tree wrapped as soon as they’re ready, which is usually a few weeks before Christmas. Then Santa’s presents show up, unwrapped, on Christmas Eve. My kids have spent a good amount of time curiously exploring the presents that are out, but no peeking so far.

Gifts from mom and dad, family members, friends go under the tree as they get sent/wrapped. Santa presents and stockings happen on Christmas Eve. My kids are almost 5 and 2 and we've never had a problem with sneaking or peeking or tearing apart, even with a ton of gift bags. 🤷‍♀️

Christmas Eve because the baby is crazy.

Presents for our family members that do not live in our house go under the tree as they are ready. Presents for the kids do not go under the tree until Christmas Eve.

Granted, we have the luxury of having the tree in a room the kids don't have regular access to, and they're little (2.5 and 4m). We're moving in about 3 weeks, so that will be changing next year forward. NO IDEA what we're going to do!

I put them under the tree gradually, as they are purchased and wrapped, because I don't really have anywhere else to store them. When DD was a toddler, we put a big baby pen around the tree to protect the ornaments and presents. Now that she's 4 and is able to read her name, this is the first Christmas she's paid attention to how many presents have her name on them vs. other people, and she's worried about not having as many presents to open as other family members. I've tried explaining that Mommy and Daddy may have some other secrets hidden away and that Santa will bring extra presents that aren't under the tree, but nothing seems to be fully taking away that worry. We're also trying to focus on other aspects of Christmas besides the gifts, but I do remember the excitement of anticipating the presents when I was a kid.

They go out as they are wrapped. Santa gifts go out Christmas Eve. Luckily the boys and pets leave them alone. It also helps that we are in a tiny house so there is no way they could sneak a peek.

DH and I were talking about it recently and we'll continue the Christmas Eve tradition as long as the kids enjoy it. When they outgrow Santa I'd love to start going to a tree farm and cutting down a tree as a family.

It's so interesting to that everyone does things a bit different! We put nothing out there until Christmas Eve. I've been thinking about putting the presents from me to DH under the tree as I wrap them b/c why not. But I think I'd get more questions than anything so I'm sure I'll just keep them in the basement storage area until then.

We put them under the tree as they're wrapped. We have a 5-year-old and almost 4-year-old and haven't really had problems with them opening gifts. When they were younger (maybe around age 2 -- before that we put a baby gate around the tree), they definitely would become curious, but we just repeatedly explained that we had to wait until Christmas and now it's not even a question. We do an advent calendar of books, so they do get to open something every day which probably helps. Also, they do not open all of their presents on Christmas day, but open some on Christmas and then one or two each day for the next week or two, so they're used to asking permission before opening presents.
