I've heard as early as 12 months and not until age 2. What if they're not walking?
T is 17 months and not walking yet but I fumble over calling him "my baby" or "my toddler". He acts much more like a toddler than a baby though!

It was somewhere between turning one and solidly walking most of the time- so I started saying toddler maybe around 14 months? She started walking at 13 months but was still crawling more than walking.

Walking and talking made her a toddler and not my baby any more. She was exclusively walking at ten months but she was sill my baby until she started talking a fair amount too. I remember at her 18 month appointment she was somewhere north of 50 words so at that point she was toddler.

I think less about the walking and talking and more about how we are seeing more and more of his personality and interests. And things like shaking his head no when I ask questions and crying when I won't take him outside to play at 5am. That screams toddler to me!

At one I guess. He'd been walking since 10 months so he felt like a toddler.

My daughter just turned 1 this past weekend and feels like a toddler. She's been walking for a few months exclusively now, has little tantrums, takes her diapers to the trash, can sign a few words, and definitely understands a lot of what I say to her. That's what makes her feel like a little toddler even though she still is in 12 month clothes like a baby.

I still insist on calling my 15 month old a baby because I'm that mom He walks, he talks (well, kinda, not really), but he's a baby!

I think somewhere between 18-24 months I accepted that she wasn't really a BABY anymore but she was still my baby.
I can't with the toddler being when they toddle - I know someone who's baby walked at 8 months! sooo not a toddler

I agree with between 12m and being a solid walker.

12-36 months is considered toddler I think? Then 3-5 is preschooler.

Right around 12 months. Part of it was the walking (she was walking around 10.5-11 months) but more it was that she was starting to act toddler-ish. Like she was not so easy to distract anymore if she wanted things, started throwing little tantrums about not getting her way, started really understanding a lot of what I was saying, started following directions well. She is 14 mo now and still doesn't have hardly any words but she is definitely a toddler in my book!

Anytime after they turn 1. Walking, talking, and the need for independence made them step out of baby territory and into toddler.

I still think of him as a baby (He turned 1 a week ago), but he definitely has a little toddler temper. He still isn't walking, so it's hard to think of him as a full blown toddler since he isn't "toddling", I will probably switch over to that mindset once he is walking. And I'm pregnant now, so that will push me over the edge to not thinking of him as the baby

Probably around 13 months when he was pretty good at walking, doing some talking .... but most importantly, that was when he started throwing tantrums.

I guess around 1 with my older lo. He was walking everywhere and very independent. My younger is 14 months but he's still my baby! I guess I could consider him a toddler too but he still seems so much like a baby when compared to his brother.

I still call him a baby at 19mo but I'm sure he's really a toddler by any definition! Walking, talking, tantruming etc!

I think it's purely age. I still call my 4.5 year old my baby though.

I think technically 1. 1 and 2 year olds are young toddlers and 3 and 4 year olds are older toddlers, based on books I've read.
I had a hard time acknowledging that, especially since my soon started walking early, I wasn't ready to say goodbye to my baby!

When they are (doing) at least most of the following:
Walking
Talking (not just one or two words but several used regularly at least)
Self feeding, at least attempting to use utensils
12m+
