I usually didn't test until af was due so if I got a negative I knew I was out.

It isnt over until AF shows up... but since I chart, I usually know when my temp takes a nose dive.

I stopped charting after the temp rise following O so I didn't obsess about temperatures..... I started testing around 8DPO and as far as I'm concerned you're not out until AF shows!

@PurplePumps: Same here. My temp always plummeted, so I knew AF was coming. I never tested early and the only reason I tested the day I did with my BFP cycle was that my temp stayed high on the day I would have normally expected it to drop before AF.

@mrs. bird: that's where I'll be tomorrow. I am not sure when AF will arrive because I cannot remember my last cycle and this is my first cycle of TTC so I don't have a chart. Before LO my cycles were outta whack but ever since I got my period back I though they were semi normal? I guess we'll see.

@Mrs. Sketchbook: have you been testing? I usually give up around 12 DPO with a BFN.

@littlek: yes, like an idiot. What a waste of $$!
Hopefully I will learn from my foolishness and only test around 12 or 13 dpo next time.

Out when AF arrives, but I get super down when my temp plummets.

@Mrs. Sketchbook: I count myself out when I see spotting, which is usually 2-3 days before AF. I'm always slightly helpful that it's implantation bleeding, but it never has been. I don't trust tests until after a late period, so I don't bother with them.

Lately I count myself out if we don't have enough sex during ovulation week. For example, I should be ovulating Wednesday and we only had sex once this week and are probably not going to do it today or tomorrow either. I pretty much count us out until March. I am not enjoying this ttc while nursing and the husband has a horrible work schedule, lame.

12 DPO is the last day I test. If it's negative at 12 DPO, all there is to do is wait for AF to show (I have a 14-day LP).

I think 12dpo is when I'd give up hope. But if I weren't temping or using opk's, I would go with when AF arrives since I couldn't know O date for certain.

I give up hope at 12dpo (lose some hope at 11dpo but I don't quite trust 11). but definitely agree you have to be sure about ovulation date for that. without progesterone supplements I will also spot by 11-12dpo (or earlier) and that tells me AF is coming so I can stop testing. my temps nosedive right in line with the spotting, though I mostly don't temp anymore.
I have a long LP so it's really annoying to be out at 12dpo and sometimes have to wait until 17dpo to get AF. ugh.

if the wondfo is still stark white 12/13 DPO, I would consider myself out.

@Mrs. Sketchbook: I wait for AF... just because I HATE negative tests SO SO much.

I usually give up 2 days before AF. If there's nothing then, its pretty unlikely. And if there is still a chance, I guess a happy surprise is better than dissappointment.
@catchafallingstar: I should start doing what you do. Negative tests are the WORST!
