I usually follow-up in a week. But if they said they would be making a decision on Friday, then I would wait until Friday. That's awesome she wrote them thank you notes!

I would definitely wait until Friday on the interview where they gave a deadline. As the interviewer I think I would feel a little annoyed if the candidate was pressing for an answer prior to the deadline I provided. The hand written note is enough of a follow for the time being. On the other job I would give it a week from the date of the interview and then follow up with an email asking if they have come up with a timeline for when they might make a final decision.

@daniellemybelle: I always just called and said, "Hi, this is *name name*, I had an interview last week and I was following up to see if you had made a decision yet." That way people have to respond right then and there. I usually had people say, "What was your name?" Then they'd pull my application/interview notes - that gives a much better chance because they see you made the effort and can't just disregard the call like you can an email.

I think since she's already sent a note, I would wait until Friday and then contact them to see if any decision has been made. You don't want to see over-aggressive!
