I usually try and give a book at least 50 pages until I give up on it, if I am not interested. Sometimes it's hard to even make it that far though! How long do you give a book before giving up on it?

Unless it's REALLY terrible, I try to not give up, haha. The last book I quit, I was about 150 pages into it before I finally gave up. And I would've kept going except that my brother said if I wasn't interested in it yet, it wasn't going to get any better for me!
ETA: I think I try to get a quarter of the way through a book before I make a determination on it. If I read a quarter of it, it's usually captured my attention (or it hasn't).

No real answer. I'll finish most things I start but I give up when I start grabbing something else to read in the tub.

I give up when I find that I'm skimming and flipping pages more than I'm reading. I figure it's not worth my time at that point.

It depends, I usually try to give the book some time, so maybe 1-3 chapters depending on how long the book is. I've been known to throw books across the room. I don't know how far it is into Eat, Pray, Love when she's on a bench in Italy talking to herself and crying but that's the point I threw the book across the room and said enough with this BS.

@lovehoneybee: same. The minute I decide to start another book, I know I'll never finish the other one. I always try to get half way, though.

The first couple chapters. I give up pretty quick.
and it was one of the books I actually bought. Sigh.
