I only go if I also have a fever to check for something like Strep.

Then I'd just take some Motrin for the pain, gargle some salt water and let it ride. I'd only be concerned about strep if there was a fever. But I also avoid the doctor at all costs. Ha ha.

I would take cough drops and OTC meds, drink hot liquids and gargle salt water for a few days. After a few days of no relief, I might go to urgent care.

I'd go in. It's easy to get a sick visit appt at my doc's office.

Unless I had a fever with it, I wouldn't go in. Most of the time I just take some Zicam and it helps to alleviate the sore throat.

Generally I would try to wait it out, but I once had a tonsilitus episode where I literally could not even swallow my saliva - if it got that bad again id go in! Feel better soon.

Sore throats can last several days. Unless you have a fever, there's unlikely anything worrisome.

Never, without other symptoms. Wait, no, that's not true. I had a sore throat for a month and I finally went in! Turns out it was reflux. Otherwise I get sore throats all the time and I treat them with motrin and other OTC remedies.

I forget why I exactly went to urgent care last for my sore throat. I don't think I would have gone but for some reason I did. Well, I ended up having Strep. I was totally shocked.
I think I might have been sneezing and coughing up green mucous and that I thought I had a sinus infection. Maybe that's why I went. I guess I wanted to get the sinus infection taken care of before it turned into something worse. Plus, DH has asthma and wanted to make sure he didn't catch what I was having.

If it was bad enough and had enough accompanying symptoms that I had to miss work, I think they ask for a doctor's note after the third day of absence in a row, so I'd go then. Otherwise, I wouldn't go to the doctor for a sore throat/earache/general cold symptoms.

I have only gone once in my life for a sore throat and only because my whole household had already been treated for strep that week so it was obvious. Otherwise I would have waited it out.

i went when my tonsils felt so big that i had a legit fear i was going to choke on them. i would get sick with a cough for a month, have a month off, then get that horrible cough again. turned out my tonsils were destroyed and i had to get them out. i have rarely been sick since! best thing ever although it was the most painful thing i've been through (including childbirth!)
