The first or second weekend in December. We always go get a fresh tree, so we don't want to get it too early for fear of it not making it to Christmas. I LOVE decorating for Christmas!

The weekend after Thanksgiving. I put it up early and then take it down right and have all the Christmas stuff put away by New years.

we always start decorating the saturday after thanksgiving. just a little over a month now! our tree is so pathetic though... we got it for $20 from target a couple years ago. i'm DYING for a real tree, but hubs said no real trees until baby can celebrate with us.

@mrsmenow: impressive! our christmas stuff was up until march last year! haha. we got super busy, and never had a free weekend to take it all down. we're going to try for january this year.

I refuse to put up our tree before Thanksgiving, even though I love Christmas! I just think it loses some of its special qualities when you start seeting Christmas stuff in August! So usually Thanksgiving night or the weekend after Thanksgiving we start getting the Christmas stuff out!

@photojane: I don't know why, but once the holidays are over, I am ready for things to get back into order. We got our tree one year the day after Christmas on mega clearance- like a $250 tree for $50, maybe this year you guys could upgrade until he is willing to go real:)

@honeybee: that's so cool! At least now you know where he came from! I had to laugh at your comment "pope hat and all", because really that's what it is! December 6th is his name day, he's a catholic saint but I don't really know the story..

@mrsvdv: He's also carrying the pope staff! I'm Catholic, but we don't really celebrate the saint days, so I don't know his story either. I'm going to look it up this year, so we can tell the kids, though!

We've never put one up before. We went home for our first Christmas together. DH was deployed for our second and I was home, so we didn't have much need for a tree. This year will be our first year putting one up and I can't wait! We'll probably wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving!

Second week in December. We get a real tree so we want it to stay fresh! I decorate the house for Christmas before Thanksgiving though! We travel for Thanksgiving so I love coming home to a Christmas-y house. At my parents' house they have three trees - one real and two artificial so they put the fakes up right after Thanksgiving. When we have a bigger place I definitely want to do that - I'm all about maximizing the season.

usually it's up the week after thanksgiving (we're always visiting family over the weekend) but since DH is in school and i'll be late 3rd trimester, i want to see if we can find a real tree the weekend before thanksgiving so he can help decorate. it's super early and i might have to deal with a dead tree, but i would rather have it up earlier to make sure it actually goes up since this is our last christmas with just us!
