I know that we can predict the end of our cycles and test that day or beyond, What to Expect Before You're Expecting says test after 18 up post-ov days, but I have a feeling most of us take a test early, sometime during the TWW. When did you start taking it? And then how long did you continue before and/or after the BFP or BFN?

I tested super early at 11 dpo, and continued to POAS for about a week after ... Just to be sure

I was so bad! I'd start at 7dpo, lol. But I got my bfp evening 9 dpo!

I typically hold out till 11 or 12 dpo and then I pee on one every day till AF shows. My first BFP I was uneducated on how it all works and took one 14dpo (not knowing that, just knowing that my period was due in 3 days) and got a BFN. Took again the day AF was due (16DPO) and got a BFP. However, my levels never progressed right and that was why we MC so I think maybe thats why.
This cycle I really really want to wait till 14po so we will see.

@Alison206: I'm sorry to hear about your MC. I think that early miscarriages may be a good reason to wait a bit longer.
@Sorrycharlie and @APRK: I'm super impatient and I just want to test now, but know I shouldn't. I have 5 days until my expected period so I'm going to try to hold out for at least 3 more days I think. I have a shorter luteal phase, so luckily I don't have to wait as long as most.

@Ambular1025: sadly, we knew we were pregnant for almost 3 weeks before my D&C so I don't think waiting would have changed anything. I'm all for early testing regardless!

I tested at 10 DPO and got a BFN... Skipped Day 11... Got a BFP on Day 12! It was hard to wait to test; also very hard to see a BFN too though.

This is our first cycle trying, but I'm planning to wait until the day my period is due. I have a long LP-- 16-17 days on average, so I don't feel like there is much point in early testing anyway. I'm also afraid of getting a positive and then getting my period-- I'd rather not know about a chemical pregnancy, at this point.
However, I'm sure I'll test early if there is a drinking event coming up, like a wedding or something. Then I'd want to make sure it's not pink so I can drink

When we first started trying I used to test super early, like 8 or 9 dpo, and keep testing. Then I calmed down and would test around 10 or 11 dpo and maybe just before AF. At this point I'm hesitant to test until maybe 11 or 12 dpo, and after that just wait for AF to show. Or just wait and see if AF shows? I hate the disappointment of BFNs.

@spaniellove: The BFN's don't scare me too much since they can be negative when you're pregnant, but I agree, that I can just wait until I'm supposed to get my period, or just watch my temps and there's no need for a test.

I don't! I hate seeing BFNs, so I'm not testing again until my period is good and late.

@Leilalou...they certainly have a way of bringing you back to a sad reality don't they? I usually just get AF before I test, so I think I just have testing envy lol.

Usually around 12 dpo unless my chart looks bad.

I waited till the day my period was due, if my temps were up.

When we were TTC we had a strict rule of not testing until my period was 2-3 days late.

@ambular1025: Some doctors think that it's good to test early because you could have issues with progesterene or stuff. This could cause you to have chemical pregnancies/early miscarriages. The earlier they know about it, the more they can do, especially if it occurs more than once.

@Jennimac: That's good to know! I was in the camp of waiting until late next time, but I agree that it would be good to know if I was having a number of chemical pregnancies or something. Good point.

I have irregular periods so I usually just test if I 'feel' like something is off, not because it's a certain day in my cycle (since i have no idea what day I"m on at any point).
Once I get on Clomid I'll know when to test! Although I think the RE will do that for me anyway.
