We want to take LO1 to Disneyland in August when she is 4, but we also have LO2 (will be 6 months, ~4.5 months adjusted).
Would you take your baby to Disneyland at 6 months? Would you take any special precautions?

Disneyland scares me after the measles outbreak there. But if that wasn't a concern, I think 4-6 months would be the best time to go. They're still little enough to enjoy being worn or sit in the stroller most of the day.

So I swore I would only bring LOs once they were potty trained. But I can definitely see bringing dd2 next year (who will be 18 months) so we can go again for dd1, who had an absolute BLAST when we went last week. Best trip we've ever taken.
So I change my position and now I would take a younger sibling at any age if it meant an older sibling could go and have fun.

@ShootingStar: yes the measles outbreak is what I'm concerned about! The first vaccine isn't until 12 months.

Won't it be ridiculously hot in August in Cali? I worry about being outside so long with an infant?

Id go at 6 months. I feel like Disneyland in general is a lot easier with a baby than Disney world, especially since it's more likely to be a day trip.

@regberadaisy: it will likely be hot, but not too crazy. To put it in perspective I grew up in Southern California without central ac, which is actually fairly common. I feel like most places in the country would be practically unlivable without ac in August in comparison.

I don't know, I'd want to wait until they are potty trained. I say that, but we took both LO's to a small theme park last summer and LO2 was not at all potty trained and it was fine. We just didn't stay more than a few hours. But for a large park like Disney I would prefer to not have to worry about naps and diapers.

I have a picture of my parents taking me to Disneyland when I was 2 months old! But my mom's sister was taking care of me whole time while my parents did stuff with my brother who is 3.5 years older than me. I hear this story a lot... they all had a good time. Hehe.
I guess I would totally do it! Especially if I had a "helper".

We are going to WDW with a 6 month old and our 4 year old.
ETA: my nephew is 6 weeks and is at Disneyland right now!

@regberadaisy: yes I am guessing we will need to take frequent shade breaks and avoid the hottest hours. I'm thinking we would spend some time in the morning, take a break for lunch, then return to the park in the late afternoon.

@Raindrop: with park admission being $100 these days I don't think any of my family would want to tag along just to be a helper
Perhaps I could persuade my mom to hang out with my LO at the hotel though!

@sunny: Haha that reminds me ... I took my parents along with DH and LO (when he was 2.5 - I was pregnant so no LO2 yet) to Disneyland. I forked over the money for my mom and dad for a 3 day park hopper pass. My dad (I swear faked this) sprang his ankle the first day and said oh I'll just hang out at the cushy hotel room while you guys do the parks. See ya... oh don't forget to bring me some food! Haha. I was pretty ticked off with him but oh well. He knows I think he totally faked it. Totally gave him the sideways eyes. Haha.

We took LO to Disneyworld on a family reunion trip at 3 months (he was 6 weeks early, so really 2 months adjusted). I didn't worry about germs or anything since he was either being worn or in the stroller. Our pediatrician was comfortable with it, despite him being early. He handled it like a champ and we had a great time!

@sunny: we went when DS was 8 weeks & DD was 2. I wore DS majority of the day & we took afternoon break at hotel. I think it's very baby friendly & there is even a really nice baby/mothers lounge where you can feed/nurse/change, etc. it was one of our best trips.

@sunny: people may surprise you. I took dd to Disneyland, CA adventures technically, last August when she was 9 months old. Accompanying us were my dad, his girlfriend, my uncle, and my brothers ex-girlfriend (although she had an annual pass).

There's literally not an age that isn't perfect for Disney. I think that age is awesome since they won't be mobile and you don't have to run after two kiddos yet

We took DD2 at 5 weeks. She was the easy one! DD1 was the wild card at almost 3!

We started taking or son to Disneyland at 5 months and I would have gone younger. It's the best age - they are so easy, and love hanging out and looking around! You can wear the baby on any ride your 4yo wants to go on.

Do you live close to the park? Do you plan on visiting often?
My parents want to take us and our two boys (currently 2.5 and the other due in June) next Spring. We are hesitant to say yes, since the baby won't remember it at all. It might be worth going when they are older. I personally don't plan on visiting Disney too many times, but if you are going to go often, why not?!

We will be going in September with a 2yr, 1yr and a 5 month old. Babies love Disneyland! Well they like sleeping in the stroller and rising the baby rides

we went with ds at 8 weeks old during the summer/fall when it was hot. he slept most of the time, we just put a light a&a over his infant careseat and kept him in the shade. theres plenty of places to sit in the shade i felt like. and the buildings are all air conditioned. take advantage of the baby care stations! they are air conditioned, and room to nurse/pump/relax with the baby.

I took DD to Puerto Rico when she was 2 months old... and it was totally fine. She did great on the plane because we just nursed and wore her the whole time. We hiked El Yunque and went to the beach and made sure we kept her cool. We have now come up with the awesome idea of taking DD to Disney next March with her 4 month old little sibling (due Nov 1). Luckily my parents are coming and my mom doesn't really like rollercoasters so she can watch the baby while we do rides with DD. I probably would not do this without grandparents.

My son did Disney for the first time at 2. My daughter did Disney land for the first time at 4 weeks old. Then we did world at 4.5 years old and 9 months old. We baby wore most of the time. So she wasn't touching much. Lots of hand washing. I don't worry too much about viruses because really they are everywhere and I'm just as likely to have her get sick from the store as Disney.
