My friend's baby shower is next week and the only things left are baby Q-tips and feeding spoons for solids! Should I just buy some things I like, a gift card or ask her to add more stuff to her registry?

I would go with a gift card...that's what I would want in that situation! Gift cards are awesome because you can always use them to buy diapers and wipes even if there isn't anything else you need before baby arrives.

I don't love giving gift cards at showers because I feel like watching the presents get opened. I would get the spoons and find some other things that you need for solids and make it a themed gift. Maybe a baby food cookbook if you think she'll make her own food.

In that case, I would probably get something sentimental. What's your general budget? Do you know the gender/name?

@deerylou: I know it is a girl and my budget is $75! Maybe a $50 GC and something else?

@autumnlove: I like the idea of a GC + something else. Or do you know of anything she's mentioned she wants but did not put on the registry for whatever reason?

What about a sweet pair of baby shoes, and something relaxing for mom? A prenatal massage, a nice, lightweight robe for the hospital, or a gift certificate to get a pedicure before she goes into labor? I know I would have appreciated a gift like that.

@autumnlove, @regberadaisy: I like the idea of gift card and something else.
Is there anything you think she is missing from the registry or something she doesn't have on there that you think she couldn't live without? How about some books to start baby's library?
@Deerylou: Ooh something sentimental for baby + a nice relaxing gift for mom sounds nice!

@NorCalWayfarer: @deerylou: @regberadaisy: Ok, I texted her sister and she says hooded towel but not PBK...I guess my friend doesn't like their stuff!
Where can I find a nice (not PBK) hooded towel? I found out the baby's name...maybe I can get it personalized in time for next weekend.

@autumnlove: Target! Carters! You can take it to a local personalized / embroider shop? Anything online you'll end up paying a rush fee.

I agree - Target has some cuuuuuute hooded towels.
Maybe a nice, organic baby bath product set to go with it?

@deerylou: Oh I love that! And the bath stuff will get used up so it won't be an extra thing lying around, but the bath towel they will have for a while.
And include a gift receipt just in case.

I'm usually way against going off registry but maybe a gift card and a smaller cute clothing item? Smaller meaning nothing extravant and pricey? Maybe something from the store she registered at where you got the GC, with a gift receipt, so she can return it? That way she has the best of it all! And that stinks! This is the one nice thing about registry stalking BUT if she doesn't need anything else then other posters are right, she can use the GC for future diapers, wipes, or even if it's Target- food or something for her!

@kjpugs: My husband told me to stick to Q-tips and Gerber spoons...I'll ignore him!
Her friends are on it...I had a ton of unpurchased stuff the day before my shower!
