We are at the very early stages, not pregnant or TTC at the moment, but I like to stay away from initials spelling GAG, LAG, etc.
What initials did you stay away from?

HAha. they weren't too important, but I wanted something that flowed nicely.

We almost settled on a name, then we realized the initials were ASS. So we switched the middle and first names, but didn't want her monogram to be SSA (We're southern and the monograms abound!)

As long as it didn't spell something offensive we didn't really have a preference on her initials. We cared more about how the first name sounded with our last name.

It was something we considered, but not really something that had too much bearing. The #1 girl name on our short list spells "GEM" though, and that's one thing I sort of love about the name.

I didn't really care as long as they didn't spell something ridiculous. Thankfully, she has all consonants so, they don't spell anything.

we really thought hard about this. our last initial is G and we only had middle names as vowels...so like you mention, we wanted to avoid any variation of -AG or -EG. (gag, sag, hag, lag, keg, leg, etc)

Didn't think too much about it but his initials are AWW. Which is adorable.
(my initials are SWF, which was always a laugh when I WAS a Single White Female).

We just made sure it wasn't anything ridiculous. For our next, my MIL keeps on joking that we should try for the initials CEO, lol.

I've been struggling with this! Is CAO weird for initials? I don't want her to be called "cow" or have her made fun of because of her initials.
@Andrea, we're ruling out CEO for our little one... too much pressure!

This wasn't a consideration at all for us, since the middle names we were going for weren't vowels. Ending with a "B" could have made some awkward combos as well as some good ones if we chose a vowel for a middle name.

I loved the name Emily for many years...but then our daughter would be EW! LOL

not important, but we love that the name we picked has a cute nickname! AJ

Our LO will be L.J.B.M. not exactly melodious but that's ok. I'm not thrilled that her last two initials are BM, but B is my last name and M is DH's. We definitely tried to avoid BJBM.

Not that important to us, as long as it wasn't something obviously bad.

I am not pregnant, but DH and I have discussed this for our future children. Our last name begins with an "F," so we'll be avoiding WTF!

It wasn't too important with DD & isn't with DS this time around either...we just made sure they weren't any bad words/etc haha

Yup we thought about it with very name we considered. I wouldn't have minded them spelling something as long as it wasn't something bad (ASS, DUM, etc).

@oliviaoblivia: oooh a four initial name!! My son's name is the same way - JPDR!!

@sunny: what I've heard is that other kids will find ANYTHING to tease your kid about if that's what they're going to do. Seeing CAO actually makes me think of Cacao powder

I hate my daughter's initials (they spell ASK)... but I love her name. We realized that her initials were not our favorite, but we loved the names that we chose, so we just decided to go with it.
cherry / 188 posts
As long as there was no weird name that came out of the initials we were fine
persimmon / 1329 posts
I hated my initials, so we were very deliberate about the middle name when coming up with our LO's full name.

We don't like any vowel middle names so we were in the clear!

Just felt like adding this.. I know two sisters whos initials spell their nicknames.. I always thought it was so cool. They are Kimberley and Samantha. K.I.M and S.A.M.!

We didn't really think about it, and our LO's initials are OIC which makes me think "Oh, I see." I'm not crazy about it, but I love her name!

My last name starts with D, so I just dont want the initials to be STD or something along those lines.

My Dad named my youngest sister based on her initials. He wanted them to spell ELF and he made up the name using those letters!
honeydew / 7916 posts
We'll be doing a four initial name and I just don't want it to be LAZY!
pomegranate / 3643 posts
@PurplePumps: My sister is STD!
I loved my initials growing up (JED). Baby's will be MRS (girl) or MJS (boy). Nothing exciting, and MRS might provoke a little teasing, or at least, won't be good for monogramming but we can always do MSR version.
