LO's birthday its on Saturday but we go to church on Saturday Stu we won't get to take a picture with her cake till Saturday afternoon. Should i bake her cake on Saturday or should i bake it on Friday evening after work to give it a chance to cool over night before frosting it, or should i bake it fresh on Saturday afternoon

It depends on your recipe.
The recipe i used stays moist overnight, so i made the cake the night before and wrapped it up tightly with plastic wrap. The next morning i put the crumb layer of frosting on and put it in the fridge so that the final layer of frosting would be clean.
You may be scrambling at the last minute if you bake the cake on Saturday afternoon (making, baking, waiting for it to completely cool, etc.). If you're worried about the cake staying moist, you could wrap the layers/cake tightly and put it in the freezer.
I once made a cake a few hours before a party and it was a disaster. The cake frosting was melting because the cake hadn't fully cooled...don't want you to go through that!

I baked the cake 2 days before and decorated the day before. I didn't want to rush the day of.

@Freckles: Thanks!! I think my cake should stay moist because I am adding banana and applesauce.. Thanks for the plastic wrap suggestion. I will definitely do that; bake the cake friday evening and let it cool then wrap and put in the fridge and then i will have time to frost it on saturday.
