Office Christmas party here too! Everyone was oohing and ahhing over a coworker's newborn baby girl that was at the party, and her to die for cute red holiday outfit with ballet flat socks that look like shoes! I said, "this is yet another reason I'll be team green, because if i know ahead of time it's a boy I'll be relegated to buying ugly clothes!" Only one other woman in the office has a child (and the rest of us are all talking about/thinking about ttc). I totally forgot SHE HAS A 1yr old BOY! She immediately whipped out her phone, and was like not uh look look! Then, I had to ooh and ahh over his tee shirts with sports, and cartoon characters on them to save face!

I think it was at a friends wedding this summer! I did the same thing as you @autumnlove! My friends friend congratulated me on getting married the next month, and I said "congrats to you too! have you guys picked a date?" only to have her tell me they broke up! WOOOOOPS!

On a daily basis, it seems... Just like @autumnlove I work from hom and often miss out on what's happening in the office and am always treading lightly to make sure I'm not offending anyone!

I recently introduced myself to an older looking man who was picking up a couple of the kids I work with during after school care. Since I had never met him before and I've been working with those girls for several months, I asked if he was their grandfather. He was like "no. Father."

All I could do was mumble that I was sorry and that my dad used to get that all the time too (he was 40 when I was born, which was old for back then...) I still feel bad about that.
