I have one today... not looking forward to it! I think my last one was 6 months ago.
I stopped eating wheat a while ago, and I heard that's supposed to help minimize bleeding of the gums during a cleaning. We'll soon find out!

Over a year ago? I had a cleaning appt the day after my water broke and I haven't rescheduled that appt 10 months later..... I need to get on that.
My gums never bleed during a cleaning though. Is that common?

@prettylizy: I have no idea! Supposedly bleeding gums have become more common in recent years, according to dental hygienists.

Back in November when I had a DEEP 2 hour cleaning (and involved 12 shots in the gums). Since that horrible cleaning, I've started flossing everyday - which I never did before - and it really has prevented the gum bleeding!

@sweetchic: I had something similar done a few years ago and have flossed just about every day since. Did they do scaling & planing w/antibiotics in your gums? Ugh it was so painful! (and each antibiotic shot was like $250...and insurance didn't cover it..)

@tororojo: I have no idea what they did in there!! I had my eyes squeezed shut and my ipod on, haha. I just told them to do what they had to do...
And we don't have dental insurance, so this was a VERY expensive dental appointment 
But considering that I hadn't been to a dentist in almost 4 years, I figured the cost of the deep cleaning equaled all the regular cleanings I missed (but which I will never do again,!)

@sweetchic: I bet you had similar stuff done--I've always had A+ teeth except for that one appointment, which came after a 4-5 year gap in going to the dentist. I never knew flossing was so important!

October.
I was told I need my wisdom teeth out and haven't called the surgeon to schedule it yet.. hoping I get up the guts to do it before my April cleaning.
