If the incline was favorable, she was able sit up by herself and with her back assisted at around 5 months. She wasn't able to control her backward fall until about 7 months, like if she leaned back too much, she would just fall backwards. So I would say sitting fully unassisted by 7 months.

We are almost 8 months and she hasn't done it. She still can't sit unassisted even but can crawl.

It was 8-9 months, don't remember exactly, before she could pull herself to sitting.

I think somewhere around like 7 months? It was just before she started crawling.

@delight: it's so neat seeing the things they pick up quickly and other things they decide can wait!

@Mrs. Sunshine: yes babies are amazing creatures! Watching them reach, or try to reach milestones is awesome. Never a dull moment!
@lawbee11: I've started showing L pictures if your M. I'm like "See? M is sitting nicely in a shopping cart, it's about time you do the same!"

She started being able to get in the seated position by herself from lying down about 7.5 months. She has gotten much better at it since being able to crawl

@lawbee11: Same! He's a great sitter, but can't crawl. He's 9 months and doesn't push up to sit just yet.

4 or 5 months, I think.
I have a photo I snapped of Chloe the first time she sat up on her own. I had turned around, and when I looked at her again she was sitting and not laying on the floor LOL I was like "howwww did you get there?!"

If he's on a slight incline, he could use his stomach muscles to pull himself up into sitting position around 7 months. He's almost 9 months and can't pull himself up completely from a complete lay down, but he'll try. He'll get himself into a pike position, but can't leverage it to fully sit up. If I give him my two forefingers to grasp onto, he can pull himself up to a sitting position and then into a standing position.

E is 8.5 months and can't do this yet. I'm relieved to see it's pretty normal!

It wasn't until 11m for my LO. But then LO is still not crawling... So I guess he is just late when it comes to things like this.

@Alivoo01: This is exactly where LO is at. He can do it with minimal assistance, but can't quite get it on his own.
