I was 23 with a fast metabolism and a personal trainer! I won the trainer sessions (3x a week for 6 months) by winning some raffle at a fundraiser!
When were you in the best shape of your life?

i was skinny and thin in college, but not really in good shape, i just looked good. back in october i finished the tough mudder course and was in awesome shape! of course i got pregnant about 8 weeks later so all the hard work went out the window...but i am looking forward to hitting the gym and using the jogging stroller !

College. We had 3 practices a day when I was playing D2 hockey. Our first practice included running 4 laps around the stadium, up and down the stairs of the stadium. Training was hell!! It was a year after college that I noticed I had lost my 6 pack.

The year leading up to getting pregnant. I started working out for the first time in my life and got pretty darn lean.

Probably senior year of high school, when I had 2 a day practices during the summer to prep for the football season.
Best cardio was probably freshman year of college, when I played rugby.

early 20's. i was doing aerobics, cardio kickboxing and hiking regularly. but then i was also going out and drinking every weekend so all that work just helped me maintain my weight.

Summer of 2006 - I was working out regularly and getting in shape for my friends wedding bc my ex was going to be there with his fiancé and I was sill single. I looked great
2008 - we got engaged and I gave up carbs and the weight melted off. My clothes fit so great and problem areas that I had never seen flat were so flat. But giving up carbs is not sustainable for me - I LOVE rice and pasta and potatoes!

Probably in my teens with a combo of soccer, cheerleading, and weight training. After the bar, I plan on working out again hardcore before we ttc

About 6 months after meeting DH. He was my trainer at the gym. 3 days a wk with him & 2 on my own, in conjunction with some mild eating, err, not eating :\ issues. It's the only time period that makes me regret not taking naked pictures, lol. <sigh> to be hot & skinny again... Maybe someday!
Edit to add: I was 24

In high school. I was a three season athlete and swam competitively and played tennis competitively during the summer.

College - I ran DI CC, indoor and outdoor track so I ran 70 miles a week, which included some tough workouts and lifted 2-3x a week. I lose my arm strength like immediately after I stop lifting but I could bench my body weight and do about 20 pull ups in a row in college. I haven't gotten close to that kind of physical strength since I've been out of college though.

I was in good shape in HS because I played soccer and we had workouts and practice every day. I'm in really good shape now too. I've been going to the gym regularly and am pretty happy with how I look.

Right before I got pregnant. We got married 2 months prior, so I had been focusing on eating healthy, and exercising.

When I was 19 and living on a college campus in LA. I worked out 10 times a week and ate nothing but salad, literally. I was very strong and healthy and felt amazing!

@autumnlove: no...we didn't speak to each other but everyone including the bride complimented me and asked what I had been doing to look so good...that was good enough for me

@autumnlove: wow! That's a great prize to win!
For me, it was 27 or 28. I'm turning 30 in November so my goal is to get back to that shape by my birthday.

I'd say senior year of high school until I was 21. I worked out a lot then and actually really enjoyed it. I need to get back to that.

Although I was just a wee bit on the too thin side, I looked awesome the year of and during my wedding (Nov 2010).
ETA: Being that light meant I could run like the wind . . . so I did. I was also taking pilates and dance classes, so I was lean but defined.

Definitely high school. I was in dance and I was super flexible and energetic waaaaay back then.

Summer when I was 16, I spent the entire summer working at a horse farm training young horses, training my horse and doing barn chores. We ate McDonald's like 3 times a week but I didn't gain an ounce! I looked amazing, sigh.

I've never been really in shape because I hate exercise. But right before our wedding I was working out about 3 times a week, so I was pretty toned. But after the wedding, I lost 25 lbs and went from size 10 to size 6. So I was smaller, but still pretty flabby, when I lost weight (on Weight Watchers) after the wedding.

Before I was pregnant...now I feel the body aches, and I am so out of shape, no time to do anything with baby, I tried to do excercises with him, squats, crunches, but hard to make that time. Just started to go back to running, and body just feels so weak, amazing how body changes after pregnancy.
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
High school. I played tuba so I marched around carrying a fifty pound instrument for practice two days a week, games on Friday nights, and sometimes weekends for competitions.
pear / 1879 posts
I was the thinnest (and felt like I was in the best shape!) during college, but I probably wasn't taking the best care of myself then! Best shape overall was probably leading up to our wedding, almost 5 years ago. I felt strong and confident and that made me happy I'd like to get there again after baby!!!!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
Probably when I was 14-15, ahh the good ol days of being tiny and tan...
eggplant / 11824 posts
I've always been really slender (except now lol), but I was super toned with super flat abs when I was 25-26. I worked out with a personal trainer 3x a week, and worked out in total 5-6 days a week (both cardio and weights) and looked and felt awesome.
My metabolism slowed once I hit 30, and post-baby I'm heavier than I've ever been, and very, very soft and squishy. Maybe I'll ask my husband for a personal trainer for my birthday if I don't lose the weight by then!!
honeydew / 7444 posts
Probably the few months prior to getting pregnant. I was working out 6-7x a week and my running pace was the fastest it had ever been. Even though i was skinniest at 25, i was much fitter at 30. My resting heart rate was even lower than my husband's!
pomegranate / 3053 posts
Twelve years ago when I trained to run a half-marathon. Now that I'm done with kids I'd like to train to run a couple of marathons if my body and my schedule allows me to! I'm 25 lbs heavier than I'd like but it's not too bad considering that I've had two kids. It really helped to not gain too much with my pregnancies. And both times I didn't make any efforts not to gain too much weight. Just worked out that way, thankfully! I miss not being self conscious of my flabby arms! I have flabby arms gene not matter how in shape I am!
